3-To-Inspire with Emma

Hi CTK friends!  It's Emma on the blog today to share this weekend's 3-To-Inspire challenge!   We love to share this challenge every Saturday for those of you that are looking for a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or those just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little goodie  is a fun  little bonus!).

I hope you'll join me this week using the following prompts:

1. Give yourself a "colour challenge" - focus on using a colour you normally wouldn't on your project.
2. Use a cut file (this could be one of the awesome free cut files from our store).
3. Include more than one photo.

And here is the page I came up with!

For my colour challenge I focused on using purple!  I actually love purple as a colour but I really struggle using it on my layouts  Just seems so..odd haha.  The June Main kit has quite a few  pops of purple in it, so it was a great opportunity to challenge myself!

For my layout I teamed one of the papers from the Main (Noteworthy No.2 by Elle's Studio) and the Heart Doodle cut file (designed by our amazing DT member, Nathalie!).  I cheated a little for my multiple photo's by creating a collage on my phone and then just printing that :)

I used the white cardstock as my background but after laying it all together (before I stick everything down) I realised it was a bit too "plain" so I added one of the pattern papers (Noteworthy No.4 by Elle's Studio) on top but trimmed it slightly shorter so the white cardstock became my border around it.

I had to add a bit of machine stitching on my page so I grabbed my purple cotton and added  a few zig-zags at the top and bottom.

Once that was done it was just a matter of getting all the other purple pieces included in the Main kit and popping them around the page.  As I was putting all the purple on the page I thought it really needed some contrast - hence the pops on green on the page! I think they pair up nicely :)

Those expoxy stickers from Elle's Studio are gorgeous, loved using them on this page!

Between you and I, I'm still not in love with using purple on my layouts but I do have to confess I think this one is kinda cute!  Do you struggle with using a particular colour on your projects?  Please tell me I'm not alone! ;)

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project/s and share them with us on our Facebook Forum.  I can't wait to see your take on this one!

Take care, Em xo

Kit Love with Kira

Hey everyone!  And welcome to my very first blog post as a member of the Citrus Twist design team!  I'm so excited!  Are you excited?!

You should be!  I have a kit unboxing to share with you today, plus a layout I created using bits and pieces from a few of the kits.

You can watch the video below to catch a glimpse of all the deliciousness included in the "Twin Falls" scrapbooking kit, the embellishment kit and the "Twin Falls" pocket life kit.

Here's a quick layout I created using all three kits.

I started with a some machine stitching around the border.

Added a few strips of the "Starbright" paper to ground my photo.

And finished off the layout by adding three clusters in a diagonal design.

Thanks for visiting!  I can't wait to see what you create with this month's gorgeous kits!

3 To Inspire with Leigh

Welcome to another edition of 3 To Inspire!
Leigh here, to give your page a jumpstart.

  1. Doily, or doilies (use however many you like on your page)
  2. Die Cuts
  3. Black and White

I trimmed the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams, "Lovely" paper to 8.5x11 and then added the three doilies, and white card stock over top. Then, zig zag stitch it down so that the folded doilies stand up off the page. Pile on the die cuts, like the ones in the March "Sprinkles Add-on Kit" here.

This scrapbook page was made with the March 2017 "Oliver" Scrapbook Kit.

This month's included stamp was great for adding just a little touch of directional chevron, or arrow heads. I placed some of the dies cuts under the photo and others on top.

I hope to see you guys join in and make something based on this "3 To Inspire"!

Thanks for stopping by,
Leigh

2 Projects | Gina R

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing a couple of pages created with the gorgeous February kits. On this first page I've used the Brinley main kit and embellishment kit. I've played around with a mixed media background on kraft cardstock - I love the combination of pastel colours and white gesso against the kraft background.

My second project was created with the main kit only. I've used a simple horizontal design with the addition of a corner pattern paper piece. Black + white geometric papers are great for this purpose, they are not as "heavy" as a bright or solid colour, and won't compete or draw the eye away from the main feature of your page.

Have you been creating with February kits? Don't forget to share your projects in the CTK Facebook group and gallery!

3 To Inspire: with Leigh

Welcome to this 3 to Inspire Challenge! Leigh here, and I am in love with this month's kits!
For today's "3 To Inspire", I challenge you to use
 1)crochet thread
2) chipboard stickers
3) and a stamp set on your page.

What do you think of the simple wrap technique for the crochet thread? Can you think of new  ways to use crochet thread?

Here, you can see the add-on stamp set was used for journaling. Simple and quick. I highlighted a couple of the words  with stamping ink.

This add-on stamps set was all lined up nice and neat in the package, so I just stuck it and the top liner on the stamp block with masking tape.

Add your favorite pieces from the chipboard sticker sheet, and have fun!

Full Process video below.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Let's Get Digital with Emma

Hi friends!  Emma here with this month's edition of Let's Get Digital!

Trina created the most gorgeous cut file this month:

You can download from the cut file from Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page.

I absolutely love die-cut flower shapes, they are one of my favourites to create and use!  This is the page I created using them :)

For my page I kept it quite simple - just cut a few (well, I cut dozens actually...I like to keep extra's for later ;) ) from 3 different papers in the June kits and formed a circle on the centre of my page!  I adhered them with glue but went back and stitched in a circle too just to make sure they were not going anywhere.

Because the pages I create are 6x8 it means the circle is a little out of proportion with the page (12x12 or 8x8 would look a little more balanced for example, and be much bigger on the page!), I just added a few ink splatters and enamel dots to help fill that void at the top and bottom of the page.

I put the photo to the right side of the circle and my title to the left...gotta keep things balanced, ha!

Then I just added some of my favourite embellishments and called it done!  Love how easy the die-cut shapes were to use!

I can't wait to see how you use this month's cut files!  Be sure to link them up in the gallery and/or the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page!

Thanks, Em xo
