Think Happy, Be Happy with Claudia

Good morning! It's Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I made with the gorgeous Brinley February 2017 Main kit + February 2017 Embellishment kit. I love anything and everything pink so these kits are right up my alley.

I started off by cutting 2 strips of my favorite papers that are included in this month's kit. I only had to cut into one paper because I loved both sides. I knew I wanted to mainly focus on the items from the Maggie Holmes Catching Dreams collections that were included in the kits.

I selected some of the papers I wanted to use for the layering and grabbed a piece of vellum from my stash. This is a great way to add a different texture in between your layers or to tone down a certain paper that you are using for your layering.

I added some foam tape behind my photo so that I could add some of the chipboard thickers from the Main kit behind it. I love the dimension this adds.

I love these cork shapes from the Hazelwood collection by 1Canoe2 that came in the Main kit, I thought the butterfly worked perfectly with my layout. I added a pink heart on top of it to add a pop of pink and to make it look a little more interesting.

The last thing I did was add some gold splatters using the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold Lame mist from my stash.

Sunday Sketch with Elsie

Hey everyone, it's Elsie here! Hope you're having a fabulous weekend. Sketches are such a great starting point for your layouts; I always love working with them. This week's Sunday Sketch is a really fun one, so let me talk you through how I used it.

As you can see I kind of deviated from the sketch, but the structure is still pretty similar as I kept the idea of three main elements. Because the paper-pieced castle ended up being such a large element, I decided to only use one photo, so it didn't make the layout feel too overwhelming and busy. 

To account for not using a second photo, I added extra details on the bottom of the layout such as the girl and butterfly, which I fussy-cut from the cut-apart paper in the Main Scrapbook Kit. These work as my third main element.

I loved the cluster on the top right corner of the sketch, so I kept that the same. How cute are the CTK exclusive puffy heart stickers? I used them on the layout "tone-on-tone" style, I especially love how the green ones look on the green watercolour grass!

Talking of watercolour and mixed media... The sketch had a large piece behind the three elements, you could totally use paper, but I wanted to add something a bit more subtle. I used some modelling paste through a star stencil instead, and I think this makes my Princess Castle look even more magical!!

3 To Inspire with Veera and Andrea

Today we have a treat for you! Me (Veera) and Andrea joined forces and both of use created layouts to this weeks' 3 To Inspire challenge.

This week we encourage you to 

1. sew
2. use color pink
3. use word stickers

Here's my take on these 3 prompts:

For this layout I used February main kit and embellishment kit. I used pink as my main accent color using pink word stickers and those beautiful pink flowers. As the top part of the layout is full of embellishments I balanced the layout by using a lot of white space.

Lately word stickers have been one of my favorite embellishments. These stickers can be used for telling the story and they are easy embellishments that helps the layout look finished.

Now it's Andrea's turn!

Hi there everyone! It's Andrea here and I had so much fun working on this special “3 to Inspire” with Veera for you all! When Veera and I picked the three elements of this challenge – sewing, word stickers, and the color pink, I was so excited because I knew that these would all work great with the Citrus Twist February kits and the over-all feeling of February which is frankly quite sweet and lovely (due to the nature of Valentines Day I think).

For my layout, I knew that I needed to use the super beautiful floral patterned from Crate Paper Oasis that is in “The Bright Side” add on kit. There is some fun pinks in that floral paper, but to add some more pink to my layout, I chose to use cute embellishments like some pink flowers from the Pink Paislee ephemera in the add on kit, and some butterflies and hearts and things from the chipboard stickers in the Main Kit. For more pops of pink, I did some fussy cutting and used some arrows from some of the patterned paper in the Pattern Paper Play kit and also some sweet little tickets that I cut from some of the product packaging.

I added word stickers to my layout that would help to tell the story. I used words like “loving this”, “let's go”, “me and you” and “you are my happy” to show that the story is all about me and my love, my husband Ryan, on a romantic Valentines Day night out. By adding both the flat word stickers and the chipboard ones, more dimension and interest is given to the page.

To add my sewing in, I did some hand-stitching here and there on my page. I stitched a bit across the top of the page where the paper clips are to kind of further anchor down the flags and things that I added to that top corner. I also did some cross stitches on my fussy cut pink tickets. And for the last of my sewing, I created a special little heart using a left-over piece from the Pink Paislee ephemera pack which I painted and then added some white cardstock to and stitched to make a fun and interesting, one of a kind embellishment for my page. (note: I added a few more painted touches here and there that had a bit of this kind of effect on it just to balance things out).

I had so much fun with this “3 to Inspire” with Veera! (Oh, and I just want to also point out that I had a lot of fun with my pics on this layout too and so can you...here is a fun tip...try coloring your pic/s for your layout in cool, colors like the challenge color pink and/or mint, yellow, blue, etc using photoshop or another photo editing app or software! )

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing a couple of pages created with the gorgeous February kits. On this first page I've used the Brinley main kit and embellishment kit. I've played around with a mixed media background on kraft cardstock - I love the combination of pastel colours and white gesso against the kraft background. 

My second project was created with the main kit only. I've used a simple horizontal design with the addition of a corner pattern paper piece. Black + white geometric papers are great for this purpose, they are not as "heavy" as a bright or solid colour, and won't compete or draw the eye away from the main feature of your page.

Sunday Sketch with Lilith

Hi there everyone. I love working with sketches and I am so happy that I got to do a Sunday Sketch post this month. Sketches are such a fabulous source of inspiration. You can stick to them pretty closely or just use some elements and modify them as you create.

This is the sketch I got to work with:

This month I got to work with the Main scrapbook kit as well as the embellishment kit. It must be my favorite kit yet. Here is my interpretation of the sketch. As you can see I modified it a little and used 2 instead of 3 photos. 

I used some confetti to create flow and add detail. I cut up part of a die cut which came on one of the patterned papers. To add some texture and depth I also stamped a series stamps on the background.

3 To Inspire with Emma

 
Hi friends!  I'm back again with another 3-To-Inspire challenge!  I think it's fair to say I'm addicted to these challenges; they are my favourite!

We offer this challenge every Saturday for those who are looking for a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or for those of you just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little something is an added bonus!).

I hope you'll join in with me this week using the following prompts:

1. Create your own hand-cut title
2. Use more than one photo
3. Use a punched shape

 And here's a look at the page I created:

My title was actually inspire by something I found on Pinterest.  Now I know that's a pin for 3D letters but when I first looked at it, I thought the letters were on "hinges" on the sides.  So I set about creating my own version.  I actually love that the inspiration piece for this page is something completely different - just shows that we can interpret what we see in such different ways :)

I picked a few favourite 6x6 papers from the Pocket Life kit and folded a small section on one side, then I just used a pair of scissors to cut the letters out free-hand.

I picked a few of the best photo's I managed at night.  I'm still trying to figure out how to get the best photo's using sparklers at night.  I had planned to put the photo's to B&W but with the softer tones in the papers I used they actually got a little lost.  So back to colour they went!

I used modelling paste to add some textured stars to my background, they're a little hard to see because I went with white on white.  Then I used my hand punch to cut a few tiny stars out of paper (I used the same ones I'd used for the letters) and scattered them around my page.  I literally stuck them down where they fell :)

Sunday Sketch with Wendy

Hello everyone!

Happy Sunday!  Wendy here and you know what time it is, right?!  Yep, time for another Sunday Sketch to inspire you and this sketch is truly fab and oh so sweet.  After all, it is February and a sketch would not be complete without a few sweet embellished sprinkles on the sketch. Yes?

Now here's my take on the sketch...

With the grid portion on the sketch, I had this idea for hand stitching on my layout.  Yes, time consuming but so worth it in the end result.

You will want to measure out the grid pattern for even spacing of your stitches.  I used a pencil to lightly draw the lines for my grid along with the use of a grid ruler.  A grid ruler with punched holes is the perfect tool along with a paper piercer.  Also, I would highly recommend to use a mouse pad or stitching mat cushion under the cardstock for easier piercing of your cardstock.

After all my holes were punched, I used a gum eraser to erase away the pencil lines.  Then, grab your favorite color thread (I used DMC floss and three strands), needle, and your favorite movie/Netflix series.  Go ahead and stitch stitch stitch away.

I had SO much fun creating up my take on the sketch with a precious photo of my Yorkie, Principessa.  She is two years old and quite the charmer and the loveliest of love muffins.  Ha!

I used the new February 2017 kits available over at Citrus Twist Kits.  Sooooo many good bits in the kits this month from buttons, Nuvo jewel drops, Thickers...just super fun embellishments.

Oh, and one more thing on the Nuvo jewel drops, you will want ALL the colors, you have been warned. They are addicting!  Ha!
