Using Cut Files with Shannon

Hey there, scrappy friends! Shannon here with a pocket page using cut files. I combined the May 2020 Journeys Life Crafted Kit with the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit and added some cut files from the May 2020 release. I loved all the colors in the kits so they were the perfect fit for this stained glass chalk art that my daughters made in front of our house.

*note: the May 2020 Journeys Life Crafted Kit has sold out at the time this post is being published. Where possible, I will link to digital versions of products from the kit that you can print at home.

I started the project knowing that I wanted to use the GEOTAGGED Cut File to create a title card for my page. I use a Silhouette so once I brought the file into the Silhouette software I erased all of the phrases except "home." I then resized it to fit a 4x6 card. Once I had it cut, I pulled some patterned paper together to back each letter. I wanted a little variety and lots of colors! The papers are a mix of the May 2020 Life Crafted Kit papers and the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit. I used teal cardstock as the card base to let the eye rest among all of those patterns! It was the perfect backing for the lighter teal alphas that were part of the Life Crafted kit this month. I purposely added those for a monochromatic look to, again, give the eye a chance to rest.

I will admit that this was my first time backing a cut file. I have no idea if I did it in the right or most efficient way! But I'll explain my process anyway.
1. Cut the outline.
2. Choose your patterned paper. If you're going to back the whole thing with the same patterned paper then you can simply cut the file again on that and use the negative space to back it. Otherwise...
3. Cut the paper slightly bigger than the size of the space you're backing.
4. Adhere the outline to the patterned paper using a thin line of glue.
5. Once the glue dries, use scissors or a xacto to carefully cut away the excess.

The second cut file that I used is from the JOURNEYS TITLES set. Just like with the first one, I pulled this into my software, erased what I didn't need, and resized to fit my card. Since I wanted this one on patterned paper, I chose to back it with the plain teal cardstock and the rainbow cardstock. It allowed me to add a pop of color without being too overwhelming. I used the May 2020 This Is Life DAYTRIPPING Stamp to stamp an arrow that leads the eye down to my photo. A puffy sticker from the Scrapbooking Add-On Kit completes the card. The sentiment is perfect for this die cut!

Once I had my cut files completed and placed where I wanted them, I got to work on the rest of the page. I only used one other journaling card and I kept it neutral. The card is numbered for a list so I chose to list the steps we took to make this design.  I also used some ephemera, a label, a puffy sticker, and a stamp to make my own small cluster on a photo. I didn't want to take away from the artwork that I was documenting so I had to keep it simple and small.

I finished off the page by adding a couple of small accents to my other 4x6 photos using product from the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit. I can't get enough of those acetate speech bubbles!

I hope I've inspired you to give the Citrus Twist cut files a try. Don't forget, subscribers get some free cut files every month! I can't wait to see what you create!

Life Crafted with Krystal

Hey everyone! Krystal here with a new page in my Life Crafted album using the brand new May "Journeys" Life Crafted Kit and Add-Ons! I'm so excited to share this page with you. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!

I decided to create a page documenting some of the baking I've been doing while in quarantine. I'm not normally much of a baker, but these scary times definitely call for a bit of comfort food, don't you think?

I started with one of this month's digital Traveler's Notebook Basics pages and added my journaling using my typewriter. I used the Stamp Market Alphas from the May Scrapbook Add-On Kit to add a large title to the top of the page.

The bottom of the page has a built-in spot for a little cluster, so I used one of the cutapart labels from the "Journeys" Life Crafted Kit as well as a couple of the tiny phrase stickers that were a subscriber perk this month. I also stamped the camera icon from the "Daytripping" This is Life stamp set on a piece of scrap cardstock, then used my circle punch to make it into an additional embellishment.

On the right side of my spread, I cut down one of the papers from the Scrapbook Add-On Kit to be the size of a Life Crafted page protector and punched holes on the left side. This page will go directly into my Life Crafted album, outside of a page protector.

I added a couple of layers behind my photo using papers from the Scrapbook Add-On Kit. Then I added some simple embellishments using a few of the cutaparts and a leatherette puffy sticker from the Life Crafted Kit. So very simple, but I really love the way it all looks together!

If you'd like to see how each step of the process went, you can find all of the details in the process video below.

Thank you all so much for stopping by! I hope you were able to gather some inspiration for using your kits this month!

Life Crafted Pocket Pages with Laura

Hello everyone! How are you doing? I'm Laura and today I want to show you this cute Pocket Life page I created with the beautiful Life Crafted "Fierce and Fabulous" kit and the scrapbook add-on kit. It's been just so easy and fast to create!

On the first place, I choose the base cards. I love all the beautiful sentiments  written in the cards, it's a perfect way to tell your stories without much efford, the cards were matching together so fast!

Then, I added all the embellishments. The cute ephemera from the collection She's magic from Dear Lizzy match really well with all the decorations from the Life Crafted kit!

Then I created some titles and sentiments. These pink foam alpha stickers are so gorgeous, any title will look amazing with them! Combined with the tiny letters from de scrapbook add-on kit you can get a wide variety of titles!

Finally, I added my stories with the perfect journaling cards, you always have a big variety in every kit! I like to use my own hadwritting, I believe that it looks more fun and authentic (and it's easier, too!).

And that's all for today! I hope you liked it and got inspired, I really had so much fun creating it! And don't forget to check the shop for more cute supplies! Have a nice day!

Sunday Sketch with Amanda!

Hi CTK Friends!

Amanda here, and I am so excited to be joining you for today's installment of the awesome Sunday Sketch challenge! I hope you'll get some time to craft & play along!
Here's the fabulous sketch we're being inspired with.....

Wow! What a terrific sketch! I love this design & can see it working for both scrapbook pages AND as a page for my Life Crafted Album!
So naturally,  I've created both pages to inspire you with!
First up is my scrapbook layout, "Sweet"

Sigh! Isn't this divine! Such a young, fresh & feminine page of my daughter & niece! I just adore all those pretty pattern paper layers & colors! Gorgeous!
With such a fabulous sketch, I really didn't want to alter it. I mean, seriously, that design rocks! So my layout follows it fairly closely.
I especially loved the shipping tag feature, & just had to use the 4" x 8" cream tag that was included in the Love Stories Kit!
Here's a closer look at my layout....

I switched the messy thread in the sketch for the hearts, butterfly & acetate die cut. The larger hearts are fussy cut from one of the Crate Paper La La Love papers. That bright blue one coordinates perfectly with the puffy sticker heart & die cut butterfly, and really pops against the soft colors.
And need I mention how amazing the acetate die cuts are in this month's Love Stories Kit?! Love!!!!!!
Here's a look at another acetate shape on my layout.......

Beautiful!
I use the crisp white Heidi Swapp Thickers from the Scrapbooking Add On Kit for my layout title, and embellish this cluster with more of those pretty ephemera butterflies, and puffy sticker hearts.

Oh.so.pretty!!!

For my Life Crafted Album page, I rotate the sketch 90 degrees so it will better suit my narrow 5" x 8" layout....

Oh how beautiful! I've used a similar color scheme, but this time I opted for warm red accents instead of mint green. I used one of the February Subscriber Printables in place of my layout title, & positioned my title where the journaling may have featured. Those exclusive gold puffy alphabet are simply stunning! Such a sweet lil page for my Life Crafted Album!

And there you have it - one sketch, two ways!
I hope my layouts have inspired you to play along and get creating with your Citrus Twist Life Crafted Kits!

I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks so much for joining me today,

Let's Get Digital with Amanda!

Hi CTK Friends!

I hope you're loving all the fabulous inspiration with the new Life Crafted Kit!
I am SO excited by this new fresh look for memory keeping, but I am also very much a 12 x 12 scrapbooker by heart! So even though this month's Digital Cut Files are perfectly created for your Life Crafted album - I've edited the size of the Retro Circle Border digital file for today's post and created this.....

"Good Vibes Only"

Oh wow!!!
You can see that Life Crafted is very much for the 12 x 12 scrappers too!

CTK Supplies: Life Crafted January 2019 Kit - Fresh Starts, Scrapbook Add On Kit, January 2019 This Is Life "New Beginnings" Stamp, Subscriber Exclusive Digital Cut File - Retro Circle Border, Subscriber Exclusive 2019 January Printable.

Other Supplies: Shimmerz Paints: Vibez - Jeni Be Bleu, Hermit the Frog, & Deep Blue Sea, Umbrella Crafts Premium Dye Ink - Green, Versa Ink - Lime, & Bakers Twine.

TIP:
To download any of the CTK Subscriber Exclusive Digitals or Printables, you must be signed into your account, before selecting the Subscriber Workshop tab. Once you've done this, scroll down the page and click the item you wish to download.

To create this amazing layout I start by enlarging the digital file, and replicating it. This is so I have two sets of circles to work with. Before I remove the Retro Circles Borders from my cutting mat, I treat them with a few sprays of Shimmerz Vibez - as shown below.....

Lots of messy fun here!
You'll notice that I have washi tape on the sides of my cardstock, the purpose is two fold.
1. My mat isn't quite as sticky as I'd like it to be, so the washi tape aids to keep my cardstock in position and,
2. It also aids against paper warping when I add all that paint.
Once dry, I remove the Retro Circles Borders cuts, as well as the negatives. Be sure to keep the negatives, as I use quite a few of these left over circles on the left hand side of my layout.

I use pretty pattern papers from both kits to trim the top and base of my layout. Next, I glue 95% of one Retro Circle Border to my page, trimming away the excess along the right hand side of my layout. Using the gorgeous leaves stamps included in the "This Is Life" New Beginnings Stamp, I add lots of lime and green foliage to the layout base. Those stamped leaves are really something! Such beautiful details!

Next, I glue down the left over 'negative cuts' from the Retro Circles Borders, and foam mount the odd one or two. I just love how effective this looks! With circles as a dominant shape in my design, it seemed a no brainer to use the circular frame from the Dear Lizzy Die Cut Shapes (included in the Scrapbook Add On Kit) for my sweet girl's photo. I also needed an accent color - something with a lil warmth to balance and cut through all those cool greens and blues. The answer was that fabulous golden Hello Love chipboard sticker. This is from the CTK exclusives included in the Life Crafted - Fresh Starts Kit. And even better, it's a circle too! Love it!

I fussy cut a few of the Dear Lizzy Die Cut Shapes so that they better suit my design. In particular, the Good Vibes Only title piece. I have snipped away the cacti so it now mimics my stamping and flatters my photo! For finishing touches, I also add that pretty green tag from the Subscriber Exclusives for January and the Tiny Word Stickers from the Life Crafted Kit.

Simple. Beautiful. Life Crafted!

I hope my layout has inspired you today!
