Life Crafted with Erica

Hi guys! I hope you've been having a fabulous holiday season! I'm on the blog today to share a spread in my Life Crafted album using the December Hustle & Heart kit.

I was very inspired by one of the journal cards in the kit that looked like a house in a snow globe. It reminded me of a particular Christmas when I was obsessed with putting everything into bell jars. And thus inspiration was born!

I started by using the three numbered ephemera pieces in the kit and chose three bell jar ornament photos to highlight. I created clusters with the circle elements from the December Digital Cutaparts sheet, a word phrase (or arrow) for each and a gold chipboard star.

The clusters are quite busy so I kept the photos rather simple and just stitched around them to create a frame and add some texture.

On the left side of my spread I chose three of my favourite papers, cut them into strips and stitched them down to create my background. I wanted to bring some of the gold stars onto the left-hand side so I placed one at the bottom with a label and two at the top with a sprig.

I knew I wanted to use the snow globe card for my title and for my journaling. Adding in a vellum pocket was the best way to get to do both. I used the alphas from the kit and a piece of ephemera for my title and stitched down my pocket with some coral/pink thread.

I typed my journaling on my typewriter and decorated the back of the card with a photo and a couple of embellishments. The pocket was also a great way to add in more ornament photos, because I made a ton!

I hope this gave you a little inspiration to try documenting something from a past Christmas in your Life Crafted album. Add in pockets and try stitching on your photos!

Life Crafted using the Hustle & Heart kit by Anna

Hi dear CTK friends! Anna here with you today and I'm so exited to share what I've made using my December Hustle & Heart Life Crafted Kit.

I opted for a super wintery spread made for my Life Crafted Album. A few of the gorgeous PL-cards became my base and I used one of the beautiful Subscriber Exclusive cut files backed with a sheet of acetate ( my own stash) as a divider. I just love how the snowflake cut file looks like a beautiful snowfall.

Ok, let's have a look of what I came up with.

I incorporated a intractive element using a piece of acetate (my own stash) decorated with one of the snowflake die cuts. It covers my journaling a tiny bit and makes some interest to my spread. A fun detail I think.

And there you have it, my tribute for the winter, YAY! Now it's your turn to play with you lovely stuff and don't forget to share with us on CTK Fan Page and /or Instagram @citrustwistkits #citrustwistkits. We can't wait to see what magic you'll create.
Be sure to head over to the CTK shop and grab some goodies or maybe sign up for a subscription, you'll absolutely love it!

Until next time! Anna xo

Photo Time with Marsha

Hey friends!  Marsha here today sharing another layout in my December Daily (using a Life Crafted Album).  For my project, I used mainly the December "Hustle and Heart" Kit and the Scrapbooking Add-on kit.

Here's a look at the layout I created:

I have really enjoyed using the non-Christmas themed items for my December documenting!  To begin my page, I trimmed a striped paper from the add-on kit to fit in the LC album.  I printed my photo and added it to the page, using a cut apart element and ephemera from the Life Crafted kit and add-on kit to embellish.  I recently purchased a mini tag punch and was excited to use it on the page.  I punched out the tag using one of the elements from the cut apart sheet from this month.  Next, I added some stamping to the tag using the 2x3 Stamp Add-on.  I added a bit of repeat stamping under the photo using the Life Crafted Kit Stamp.

For the other side of the layout, I used one of the 3x4 pocket pages for the LC album.  Using Photoshop, I opened the heart digital journaling card.  Because I needed more space than the journaling lines would allow, I deleted them from the card.  I typed my journaling, following the heart shape.  It's not perfect, but I am really happy with the results!  I trimmed the card slightly and layered a patterned paper behind.

For the other pocket, I opened one of the cards from the December Days digital journaling cards in Photoshop.  I deleted the highlighted "25," because I knew I wanted to include today's number in that spot.  I printed out the card and added a white puffy number sticker from a previous LC kit.  I also used the same alpha stickers for part of the title.  I stamped the word "PHOTO" using the Typewriter Alpha Stamp onto vellum and added it to the card.  To finish off the layout, I added some machine stitching to several areas on the page.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the amazing kits this month in the Citrus Twist Kits shop!

Sunday Sketch with Marsha

Hey friends!  It's Marsha here today with this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge.  This is such a fun challenge and a really great way to jump-start your creativity.

Here's a look at the sketch:

Here's the layout I created using the Life Crafted "Hustle and Heart" Kit and the December Scrapbooking Add-on Kit:

For this project, I chose to add a layout to my 2019 December Daily album-  I am using the Life Crafted Album.  I LOVE the size of this album...so perfect for this project!

To begin the spread, I rotated the sketch so that the photo and number would be on the right side of the page.  I trimmed two pieces of white cardstock to use as the base for my pages.  Next, I enlarged one of the journaling cards from the December Days digital collection, and I used it along with a couple of the patterned papers from the LC kit to layer behind my photo and day number.   Using the This Is Life "Born For This" Stamp, I stamped a frame for my number.  I added another stamp from the Traveler's Notebook Stamp to a label and added it to the side of the number.  I  used ephemera, chipboard pieces, and stickers from the kits to embellish the page, also adding some machine stitching.

For the other side of the spread, I layered a few strips of patterned paper along the edge of the page.  I stamped a sentiment from the Christmas Stories Stamp onto a label and used some of the puffy alpha stickers from the Add-on kit for the title.

I stamped some stars, using a CTK TN Stamp from a previous month, around the page and used ephemera and enamel dots to embellish.  I also added some Crate Paper Snowflake Stickers (that can be found in the CTK shop).  To finish off the page, I added a bit more machine stitching to the edge of the page.

Here's a final look at the layout:

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you will join in on the challenge and share your creations with us on the Facebook Fan Page or on Instagram using #citrustwistkits.

3 To Inspire with Krystal

Hi everyone! Krystal here with a 3 To Inspire challenge using the December "Hustle and Heart" Life Crafted Kit. Today I'm working in my 2019 Project Life album to document our first snow of the season. This page came together so quickly thanks to this challenge, so without further ado, here's the recipe I came up with for this week.

1. Use the alphas from the kit to create a large title
2. Create a filler card that includes stamping
3. Add chipboard embellishments

With those three elements to start with, it was super easy to put together this spread. I started with my title and decided to add it to the woodgrain 3x4 card from the kit. I liked how much the teal alphas stood out on the neutral background.

For the filler card, I decided to use one of the 6x8 papers from the kit and add a label from the ephemera pack, as well as two of the gorgeous little snowflake die cuts. The hardest part was choosing which stamps to use. There were so many that could have worked for this spread! I eventually chose a phrase from the Born for This stamp set and paired it with another phrase from the Traveler's Notebook stamp set. Together they made the perfect sentiment for my filler card.

To add the finishing touches, I chose two elements from the chipboard set included in the kit. I added a phrase arrow that says "here we go" above my title and a woodgrain heart to my filler card. I love how the heart ties the woodgrain in both cards together.

And that was it! So simple, but I love how it turned out. You can see the entire process in the video below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll give this challenge a try. It really does make putting a page together quick and simple.

Sunday Sketch Challenge with Patricia

Happy first day of December CTK friends!!  I have been so inspired by what the team has been creating, especially excited to see the December pages...and even more excited that we now have a new December add-on kit available!  It is filled with Crate Paper, Canoe, Heidi Swapp.  I used that kit along with a few items from the brand new Life Crafted Hustle & Heart to create a pocket page with the Life Crafted Protector and a 6x8 layout inspired by the Sunday Sketch.

I love taking sketches and interpreting them, using them as a jump off point.  On this sketch today, I first noticed the bottom doily, then the banner with the paperclip at the top of the clutter with the photo, and then the layers right under the photo.  This is how I used those three things as inspiration.

I concentrated that inspiration first on my 6x8 layout, but instead of a doily at the bottom as in the sketch, I used a large gold die cut.  Then in place of the clip and the banner in the sketch, I used the tag and die cut by my photo.  And the last inspiration of the layers right under the photo, I used die cuts from the Life Crafted kit.  One is foam adhered applied straight, and the ruler die cut is stamped at an angle.

For the colors and the rest of the design of this layout, I was inspired by that gorgeous Heidi Swapp pattern paper.  It is bold, but not too busy, and makes a wonderful background!  I decided to re-size the Sparkle & Shine cut file to fit my page in this blush colored cardstock from the kit.  I picked that cardstock color to blend with the background pattern paper and to create a lighter color near the photo as well as lovely texture.  Love the darker to lighter feel it creates with my layout.

I used that reverse side of the same pattern paper to layer and create again a lighter color to bring focus to the center of the design where the photo is.

A combination of die cuts and those gorgeous gold stickers from the Life Crafted and the Add-On Kits  really helped to create motion, color, layers, and focus to my photo as well.

With my bold right side, I used a 4x6 card and matching paper from the Life Crafted kit that was more subtle, but has similar 'branches' found on the right side, so they really complement each other well.

I kept the design on this side all vertical but very similar to the sketch as well.

Hope you get a chance to grab these beautiful kits for documenting your holiday memories, and please share in our Facebook group!
