3 to Inspire | Gina

Hi everyone, welcome to another edition of the 3 to Inspire challenge. I hope that you can play along and all you need to do is follow along with the prompts below. My layout was created with the Sonoma main kit and the embellishment kit

My 3 prompts this week are:

1. write your journaling on a tag

2. add least 2 hearts (they can be embellishments, stamping or hand drawn)

3. use a single photo

I've framed the photo here with layers of paper, a sticker, die-cut and journal tab

The tag is a great way to add colour and small amount of journaling

As this is my final design team project and blog post for Citrus Twist, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Trina, it's been an absolute blast being on this team, I think for what must be getting close to 3.5 years over 2 stints and I couldn't think of a better team than this, creating with these gorgeous kits each month has been so much fun, thanks for everything Trina! xox

Let's Get Digital with Nathalie

Hi there!


Nathalie with you today bringing you some  Christmas inspiration using this month's gorgeous Sonoma main scrapbooking kit, and this month's digital file.

Upon receiving the kit, I fell in love with this month's stamp ( it is all about crafting!, and those starburst!!), and that was the inspiration for this month's cut file (which is available for free in the  Citrus Twist Kits Fan Facebook page).

To create the soft and winter-like background, I chose to cut all the star images from white cardstock , and backed them with white vellum.   I love wood grain paper!, so I chose the American Crafts paper as the background for my page.  A few drops of shimmer white and gold watercolor  was added before gluing the die cut stars.   All the negative pieces from the die cuts were glued to the paper, while the stars were attached with a bit of foam adhesive, just to add dimension to the page.

To bring the focus to the picture of my 3 kids a few years ago, I chose to layer papers and pieces from the Sonoma main kit, but also added a few splashes of pink by adding some stickers from the Embellishment kit ( love all the new Crate Paper goodies added to the kits!)

This month's add-on stamp worked perfect to add sentiments around the page, as the picture is from a few years ago.  I kept the color combo in each of the clusters similar so that they complete the visual triangle in the page. 

Though  the cut file had the word "create" in it.   I just loved the  the look of the gold alphas that are included in the kit.

Sunday Sketch with Kelly

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be back today sharing the layout I created based on this fun sketch. 

This sketch is perfect to use after you've made a few layouts with your kit and you have scraps of paper left over.  I have used the December Sonoma Main and Project Life kits when creating my layout. 

The colors of the PL kit are so fresh and fun! I added another paper layer behind my photo that the sketch does not have because my paper layers were a bit smaller than the ones of the sketch. Since I love to frame my layouts  with I chose to add corners to the layout keeping the diagonal flow in mind.

This cluster of embellishments is my favorite on this page. The die cut pack is filled with a bunch of die cuts including this sweet smiley face. I thought it matched my daughter's expression perfectly.

The puffy alphas that are found in the Project Life kit are the perfect shade of blue and are a great size for layouts, TN spreads, as well as PL pages. I know that December is a busy month, and I hope that this sketch helps you to maximize your creative time. I'd love to see what you create!

3 to Inspire with NATHALIE

Hello CTK fans and friends!

It is time for a new 3-to-Inspire challenge, and this weekend Nathalie is providing the inspiration for this challenge.

Here are the prompts she used in her page:

1. Add dimension to your page
2. Create a title that combines different alpha styles
3. Use inks, watercolors, and/or paint on your background

Here is what i have created with these prompts, and the "Sonoma" main and embellishment kits:

It all started when I formed the rolled flowers using the Fancy Pants "Take Note" collection papers (the die used is called "Rolled Flower" from Maya Road).  I used both sides of the papers to create the flowers, and here is where the dimension on the page comes from.

Since the layout documents my niece on one of her crafty adventures with my scrapbook materials, I  wanted to add a bit of a messy/colorful background, so i used a few splatters of Prima watercolor to  add color to the background.

I added a few details along the page, so that there are a few details in small clusters.  This month's stamp was oh so perfect for this page, as well as the puffy stickers from Maggie Holmes Carousel collection that are included in this month's kit.   Those curly lines were ideal to frame the page.

Finally for the title, and last prompt of this challenge, I used  the beautiful gold/mint alpha in combo with some of the puffy stickers to create the title of this page.   A few lines of journal, gold and black ink splatter complete the page.
