Life Crafted with Patricia

Hello CTK friends!!  I hope you are inspired as much as I am from not only this team but from everyone in the Facebook group.  I am always inspired by product, even when I go shopping and looking at marketing and clothing.  But seeing what and how others create or document really is another great way to either give you an idea to try or to give you an idea to incorporate into your own style.

For this Life Crafted spread, I used the October Add-On.  I am very drawn in by these amazing colors!  So the first thing I wanted to do was use one of the pattern papers with a bold design.  I'm addicted to the digital elements and cut files from Citrus Twist, and I was recently inspired by Lorilei's 3 to Inspire Life Crafted Post here.  What inspired me to try is to use one the Screen 4 cut file in a different way.  I have always used it to either layer photos directly on or under them or as my second page with embellishments.  But I loved her idea of having it under one Life Crafted pocket!

The screen cut files really can serve so many purposes in our Life Crafted albums and be totally functioning whether they are a divider, an opening page, a place for more photos, embellishments or a title.  I am always looking for new ways to use them.  For another fun and unique way to use them, please see my Featured Video from September here where I used it as a stencil and then cut it to add directly to my page.  

I used the Life Crafted Page Protector #2 for documenting using one of the cards from the Life Crafted kit, and then used the die cut leaf and heart from the Add-On.  

  

For bottom pocket with four photos, I was totally inspired by Nathalie's Life Crafted post here where she used four photos in her Life Crafted Page Protector #3.  Doing this in my smaller 3x4 pocket worked with printing my photos small enough to still have a border around them and the photos' subjects balance each other without overpowering one or the other.  The die cut from the Add-On and heart puffy from the Life Crafted gave me the color, sentiment and texture.

This left lots of room for creative fun on my left page using the October Life Crafted and Food Stories Stamp Sets.

Using the cardstock from the Add-On kit, I stamped along mostly on the edge of it using the Life Crafted stamp, then I cut the inside out and backed with Life Crafted kit paper.  The scale of the images on the papers were perfect for this small space.  Then I used the die cuts from the Add-On to tuck either under or above some of the stamped and cut out areas, raising some of them with foam adhesive.  Then I used one of the gold puffy embellishments fro the Life Crafted kit for my title.

And finished it with the stamping from the Food Stories stamp set.

I have a few more projects to share using the Halloween Add-On kit.  I will have a mini album video using the kit coming to the Citrus Twist Kits YouTube Channel on the 19th, so all of these projects are leftovers from the kit!

First I have a set of cards.

On some of the cards, I added some stamping from the Travelers' Notebook stamp set and some of the cut files I used in the mini album that were leftover.

The Heart + spider web = instant inspiration to document when my daughter read Charlotte's Web and had to do a PowerPoint presentation about it.  We set up a spot in the house for her to do some filming.

I love 6x8 size layouts these days ;)

And I could have still created more projects with the kit!  Hope you picked it up.  It is an excellent complement to either the Life Crafted or the Add-On available this month.  Definitely pick up the Travelers' Notebook stamp set either way.  I think it is a great stamp set for all your Fall/October activities and memories!

Two Colorful Cards with the October Scrapbook Kit

Hi! And welcome to my third guest post this October here on the Citrus Twist Blog. I, Sandra, want to share two colorful cards with you today. I used the beautiful Paper 2 and the ephemera pack from Turn the Page that come with your October Scrapbook Kit. Almost everything on the cards can be found in the kit. I only used a stamp from my stash to stamp the title 'happy birthday', some sequins and confetti for the shaker windows.

Let's take a look at the first card. It's a friendly birthday card that has a fun shaker frame on it. I used one of the frames from the ephemera kit. I glued transparency foil to the back of the frame.

Then I added some sequins and a coffee cup. In a last step, I glued a second sheet of transparency foil to seal the shaker frame and used foam pads to attach the frame to the card. 

To decorate the frame, I added a flower ephemera and the stamped title 'happy birthday'.

It's fun to shake the card and to see how the sequins and the cup move around in the frame.

Now let's move on to the second card. 

Just as for the first card, I made a shaker frame with sequins, some confetti and a heart sticker from the sticker pack that comes with the kit. Then I added a second frame, the beautiful butterfly ephemera and a star for decoration.

I haven't used a lot of embellishments for the card, however, I like how it turned out.

Card Making with Tara

Hello it's Tara here. I hope you're enjoying the weather wherever you are in the world! Today I wanted to share a card I made using the October Pocket Life "Waverly" Kit. I love making cards, especially during this time of year. Since it's Autumn here, I reflect on the many reasons I am grateful. I had some extra papers left over so I made a fun card to send to a friend.

I used patterned papers from the kit. I loved cutting up the paper with the mini Polaroid-like boxes. I added a few embellishments from the October Sprinkles kit too.

Here is a closer look:

I had a couple of roller stamps - Maggie "Shine" roller stamp and an older Dear Lizzy stamp to add some sentiments.

I used one of the small glassine bags for layering and added the Maggie Holmes 'XO' rose gold sticker. I love the Pinkfresh puffy heart too! I didn't want to add too much dimension since it will be mailed out. That little unicorn was so cute, I had to include it.

Fall cards with Christin

Christin here today to share two cards with you. I am not a big cardmaker, but every now and then I get inspired to make a few and this time I wanted to make a few fall cards.

For my first card I used a waterbrush and some distress ink with a stencil to make the background. I used the Main kit + Embellishment kit for the rest of the card.   I am using the ribbon as a normal layer for this card.

For my second card I wanted to get a kind of whimiscal feel and used different pens to make the drawn background. I used the thich black for contrast.  For this card I cut out leaves from the fabric. For this kit I used the Main kit and the pattern paper kit #2.

Alpha love with Emma

Hi everyone!  It's Emma here to share a couple projects I've made using not only the amazing August kits but also some fun alpha's I picked up from the store this month. 

I can't help but pick up a little something each time - Trina always uploads those little extra's that you just have to have!  This month it was the Seven Paper, Amelia Gold Puffy Alphabet stickers.  The font is gorgeous!  Plus they're gold.  That alone was a good reason to get them :)

The first project I created was a layout.  I went big with my photo, it's almost a full 6x8.  I set the title at the top of the page to fill that big white space in the photo - the gold against the white makes it really stand out.

 
To fill the bottom of the page I just picked some paper from Paper Play #1 - I wanted to add some colour given the photo is quite bright.  The tag at the bottom is another shop item I picked up (Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Ribbon set) then I just layered a few smaller pieces from the Main and Embellishment Kits.  (Oh, the gold dotted vellum I used at the top corner and the gold paper clip at the bottom both came from my stash!)

 

The second project I created using the alpha's was a card.  I'm trying to make more cards lately.  I mean I have all the materials I need, so why not?!  Seems crazy to keep buying them when I can make them.  Plus I'm lucky enough to have friends that actually appreciate hand made cards or want me to make them for them so they can give them away.  Lucky me :)

For this I pulled a few items from my own stash but the background paper is from the August Pocket Life kit.   On top of this I just added a scrap piece of the gold dotted vellum on top (left over from the layout!) then added my sentiment to a plain white tag, sewed them together and popped some enamel dots in black and gold to tie it all together!  Easy one :)

The big 26 and a layout, Dear Lizzy - Fine & Dandy

Each month I'm always getting something extra from the store and this month I picked up a couple of the new Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy items; the shaped paper clips and accent stickers! I thought it might be fun to create a traditional layout and something different (for me).

I went with a card for my "different" this month - which isn't really different at all, but given I'm not much of a card maker I figured I'd be daring and make it a shaker-card! ;)  I never realised just how easy shaker cards were to make. For my base I used the Fine and Dandy "Stripey Straws" paper (from the July Pattern Paper Play 2 kit) then added foam tape around the edges to give me depth.  Then I just popped a piece of clear acetate on top, cut a white border out of cardstock and stuck it on top (to hide the foam tape). It’s that easy! Who knew ;)

A co-worker is turning the big 26 (and when I say the big 26 I should point out she is the "junior" in our office… I wish it was me turning 26..) so I made this with her in mind.

To make sure the accent stickers actually move around (and not just stick to the back paper) I popped them onto a scrap piece of vellum then just cut them to shape.  The shaped paper clips are clipped onto the circle paper but I also added a bit of washi tape at the back to stop them falling out should she decide to really shake that card.

For my traditional layout I went with a double-page spread.  We have just finished up with school holidays over here so we've had both kids (my son & niece) home all day and I love them both dearly but they sure are “funny”.  Thought it would be fun to jot down a few of my niece’s seemingly daily demands these school holidays ;)

This one has a little from the July kits – I tried to stick with the Fine & Dandy collection to keep the colours consistent but also brought in some pinks and golds to match. I love using different alpha’s for the titles and I just popped the “5” shaped paper clip at the top (it’s her age).

I think this is my favourite 2-page layout that I've made so far. I really love the colours!

I am a big admirer of cardmaking. I love all the little details and bits and pieces that are put together to make beautiful and fun cards. Unfortunately, I always find myself facing a big mental road block when I set out to make one of my own. So imagine my suprise when I was sifting through the rements of April's Flight of Whimsy Main Kit and a solid, fully formed idea for a card popped into my mind! Ha ha. 

 

 

I layered two strips of the Amy Tangerine washi tape--one was ran through a border punch- under neath the pretty triangle patterned paper. Next I grabbed a pink tag from the ephemera pack, the wood veneer "hello," and a cork circle and quickly played around until I came up with an arrangement that I liked. Since I layered the "hello" on top of my cork circle, I cut up another cork circle into tiny strips to place under the right side of the sentiment to keep it level. Last up was a gold arrow and a few of those fun, yellow stars and then I had a card that I loved and had fun making!

Fun with layers

Happy Wednesday! Today I'll be sharing a very special project encompassing my love of layers and my lack of card making experience.

Jeff and I will be celebrating our fifth anniversary very soon and prior to this project, I had made a grand total of one, teeny single card. I've never had the desire to explore card making but with this special occasion right around the corner, I thought I'd give it a second try.

I really wanted to keep it simple; essentially translate my layout techniques as much as I could onto a smaller surface.

I've seen many cards, lovely ones and I found it extremely hard not having to use a picture of someone or something on my project. It's hard to break a habit but in the end, I went ahead and grabbed one anyways. I thought I'd use it as an opportunity to announce the subject of my card all the while adding a personal touch. Using Photoshop, I added "5 years" directly onto the photo but since the word art was now mostly hiding my picture, I decided I needed to change the opacity of it to achieve something along the lines of a "see through" effect. In order to do this, I chose to "overlay" the layer instead and duplicate it three times.

I grabbed a bunch of paper leftovers from the Main March Scrapbooking kit and grouped them together, stapled the picture and paper lot together and added a few bits here and there. My new favourite thing to do is adding enamel dots to vellum elements (flower, leaves, etc…).

And voila! Tons of loverly layers.

Comforts of Home with Nathalie

Hi! I am here today to share the projects I have created with the December main kit "Comforts of Home" and also the embellishment kit "Joyful Tidings", both available HERE. I've said it before but one of my favorite thing about the Citrus Twist Kits month after month is their versatility. I was able to create a travel page, a winter page and a Christmas page:

I loved the Maggie Holmes ephemera pack and use plenty of it on this page. I also enjoy the vintage touches that are always included in the kits and this month's has a sheet of sewing pattern that was perfect for my "old bookstore" feel.

I added the pink Basic Grey alphas and the flair from my stash. My design was based on a sketch by Page Drafts that I had saved more than two years ago!

My next page is an 8.5x11 using only the main kit:

The smaller alpha stickers were added from my stash. I loved the colors in this kit. The Gossamer papers were probably my favorites.

Finally, I created this Christmas page about my crafty wish list (A girl can dream right? :P):

The only non-kit item here is the ink. I just had fun with this one. The collage of photos (from the internet) was made on Picmonkey and printed at home.
