Sunday Sketch with Ali

Hello fellow CTK fans!

I am so excited to share my take on a Sunday sketch. Sketches, in my opinion, are every scrapbookers best friend and such a fun way to boost your creativity.

Here's this week's sketch:

There's a lot to love here. The layers. The white space. The paper strips. And most especially, the floral cluster.

Many times, when starting with a sketch, my intention is to follow it closely, but usually, as is the case today, I make some substitutions and changes along the way to cater to the particular story, photos and supplies I have at hand.

I used white 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for a background, but wanted the color and pattern from the Oh What Fun Christmas kit, so I subbed the vertical paper strips for full 6x8 sheets.

I only had one photo, so I pulled from the 3 x 4 cards in the kit to fill in. I loved the trims included in the kit so I used two of those for the horizontal element along with a paper strip. I was excited to use the winter florals. They are unlike any other florals I've seen and I'm such a fan!

I couldn't resist adding a puffy fabric bow to the tree. I love that unique bits and bobs like this are a part of the holiday kit! To wrap it up, I stamped two little banner strips and tucked them away in the bottom left.

I sometimes make layouts to gift to family members who aren't memory keepers, so I left off any journaling with the intention that the recipient will write a few details. The blank space on the journaling card is the perfect spot for that.

Visit me on instagram to see a process video of how this layout came together.

I challenge your to pull out a few supplies and make use of this sketch for your next project!

3 To Inspire with Alena

Hey there friends! It's Alena here with you today— bringing you this week's 3-to-inspire challenge. Let's get into the prompts!

  1. Use layers, ie. under your photo  and/or layer your embellisments
  2. Use as many little things as possible, such as enamel dots, puffy stickers, sequins....
  3. Use flowers or leaf branches.

Here's what I came up with.

I made LC spread using the OH WHAT FUN! CHRISTMAS kit. As you can see, I created two clusters on different pages using layering pieces of patterned paper and then added small accents. I like to create verticals and horizontals using flower twigs.

Use the three (3) prompts to create your own project and share it with us on our Facebook Fanpage!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a great day!

SUNDAY SKETCH with Katarina

Hi CTK friends,

Katarina back with you bringing this week's Sunday Sketch challenge and inspiration. Let's have a look at the gorgeous sketch first.

Now let's see my take on it. I created a layout in my 6x8 Life Crafted Album featuring the beautiful new Gratitude digital release and the Change is Beautiful digital ephemera.

I love circles on layouts and this time I wanted something really special. My son recently discovered my crocheting supplies and I had an idea to make a crocheted circle on my page. I love how it turned out! It goes perfectly with my title and the theme of the layout.

As a background I used two patterned papers from the Gratitude digital collection. My two photos are slightly bigger as I really wanted them to stand out.

For my title I used the White Foam Alphabet, and on the right side I also used the Pumpkin/Coffee Alphabet Stickers to write another small title.

I used the Change Is Beautiful Digital Ephemera and All About Me Tiny Words/Phrases Stickers to embellish my photos and circle. I cut one of the tags from the ephemera in two pieces and used one for journaling and the second one for adding date.

I really loved working with this fun sketch and hope that you got inspired too and that you join our challenge with your beautiful creations.

3 To Inspire with Jennie Garcia

Hey Citrus Twist Friends! This is Jennie with the 3 to Inspire challenge for this week!

The first prompt is to use a simple stamp to create a cool background. I used gold ink and the Mischief & Mayhem Stamp Set to stamp stars on the photo. It's better to use this method when the background is only one color. If the background is busy, the details will be lost and overshadowed by the elements on the photo.

The second prompt is to document current trends of the moment or a specific age. I remember my niece and my oldest kid reading a lot of Dork Diaries books at this age and now that my little one is 10 she is reading the same books! I also added a postcard from a subscription box from a movie that recently came out. You can also add these trends with screenshots from online shops or photos of store aisles.

Your third prompt is to embrace randomness. Throw cohesiveness and the cookie cutter aesthetic out of the window. Life is random, and this spread will reflect that! I have so many colors and stories in these pages! I wouldn't have it any other way.
The journaling cards are from the Change Is Beautiful
To recap, here are the three prompts:
1) Use a simple stamp to create a cool background.
2) Document current trends.
3) Embrace randomness.

We would love to see what you make! Share it in the Citrus Twist Kits Fan Facebook Group!

SUNDAY SKETCH WITH MARINA

Hello, CTK friends!

Today Marina with you and here is my inspiration in our Sunday Sketch Challenge!

Here's that beautiful sketch that helped me today: I used it "as is" but you remember that you can do literally anything with sketches, right?.. You can turn it to the right, to the left, or even upside down, you can mirror it - it all depends on your personal view :)

...and this is what came out of it :)
For the design of the page I used our great Change Is Beauiful digitals and some physical All About Me Ephemera:

I couldn't pick any one background from our beautiful November Grattitude
Kit, so I decided to add all of them!
I kept all the basic elements of our sketch, but changed the shape of the photo to fit into the fall theme:
The beautiful designs from the October kit Change Is Beautiful matched the colors of our clothes perfectly, so I used them for the background.
Here and there I added golden colored dots to tell the story of the glow of the setting sun in the falling leaves:
Oh, and I love this mess, haha!

And honestly, I like the whole result a lot! :))

I love sketches and use them often when creating my pages, and you can find them on our blog literally every Sunday, don't miss out!
We always look forward to seeing what you create with them, so be sure to tag Citrus Twist Kits in your posts!

Thank you all for your attention and have a great week!
XO

3-to-Inspire with Ettiene

Hello Citrus Twist friends.  Im here this week with another 3-to-inspire.  If you are feeling crafty I invite you to join along with the following 3 items:

1. Stamp set

2. Page of digital supplies

3. An interactive element

Before I show you my finished page I thought I would give you a sneak peak ay my process for using the digital kit.  This year I have been really trying to use up what I have and reduce my physical supplies.  Digital kits are a great way to do that but I noticed I was printing everything and then adding agin to my physical stash.  Instead now I just print what I need.  Here a look at my page of supplies for this project using the gratitude digital kit

I really wanted to document some of the little things I am thankful for this month around the house that make me feel cozy.  I took 3 photos and arranged them using a smaller version of the 3"x4" card.  The photos themselves are around 2"x2".

For the interactive element I made little flips out of each card with the photos.  I stamped each flip on the left side with the Gratitude stamp set.

If this inspires you I would love to see what you create,

SUNDAY SKETCH with Marsha

Hey, CTK friends! It's Marsha here today, and I'm sharing a layout for Sunday Sketch. The sketch I'm working with today is so fun- one of my favorites ever!

Here's a look at the sketch:

This sketch is in an 8.5x11 format, but it was easy to convert it to a Life Crafted spread by separating the design down the center of the page and rotating it ninety degrees.

Here's my layout:

This month's Gratitude and Change is Beautiful digitals were perfect for this spread, documenting a photo from Thanksgiving last year. I began by printing a few digital patterned papers from the kit. I followed the sketch by trimming the papers into a layered arrow design. Next, I added machine stitching to each paper and adhered them to the page. I also printed some digital ephemera and enlarged leaves from one of the patterned papers to use as embellishments.

I followed the design by adding my title on the other page of the layout. I stamped the word "together" using the Ginger Upper Alphabet stamp and a trimmed floral piece from one of the digital cards. The edge of the page looked bare, so I added another trimmed piece of the green patterned paper I used on the opposite page. This helped to make the spread more cohesive. Then, I printed my journaling on clear matte label sticker paper, added it to the page, and stamped the date with a roller date stamp from my stash. To complete the spread, I added enamel dots to a few areas and a yellow puffy heart sticker.

I hope you are inspired to make a layout based on this week's sketch! Happy creating!

3-To-Inspire with Traci!

Hey Friends! Traci here with this week's 3-To-Inspire challenge and this week, I want you to keep it SIMPLE so I'm challenging you to use LESS!  Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is:
1) Use only 3 Die Cuts
2) Add Hand Stitching
3) Use 2 Journal Cards

For my layout, I used the November GRATITUDE collection, cutting that fun striped paper into triangle shapes that I then hand-stitched using coordinating embroidery thread and a chain stitch.  Not gonna lie, that took FOREVER but it really makes the page!

For the rest of the page, I kept it simple to let the stitching and color shine! I used two journal cards and since I was printing them, I strategically cut the "So Much to be Thankful For" card to be longer than a 3x4 so I could mat my photo, and then trimmed the green journal card to a much smaller size!

Lastly, I printed two copies of that cute leaf, added the "reminiscing" word bit that I trimmed smaller, and then the number 23 since this was part of my October Daily!

I hope this inspires you to create a page where less is more too!
