Hi dear CTK friends, Anna here today, sharing my project with you, based on this fun sketch!
Actually this one is the last but absolutely not the least Sketch Challenge for this month, tomorrow we will enter October. Time flies!

I hope you can play along as well and I would love to see your take on this sketch. To enter the challenge, post your project in the CTK Fan Page at Facebook with today's date (September 30) in the title.
I can't wait to see where this sketch will take your creativity.

Take a minute or two and just embrace this gorgeous sketch! I'm blown away! So I decided to keep my design pretty much the same as the sketch except that I adapted it to a 12"x12" layout.

Even if the lovely October kits are soon coming up we are still focusing on the beautiful September Heartbreaker kits today, yay!
I opted for the beautiful papers from the Pattern Paper Play kit and some lovely bits and pieces from the Pocket Life kit , the Scrapbook kit and the Embellishment kit. Oh! and I've also used a pair of the stamps from the Travelers Notebook Mom Duty set and the Together stamp set. Beneath my layers of papers there's a lovely piece of one of the CTK cut files designed by our own lovely Nathalie DeSousa, I love the delicate and light touch it provides my page.

These tranclucent Willow Lane stickers by Maggie Holmes works just perfect to act as my journaling.

Don't you just love all these Shine On ephmeras by Amy Tangerine, so crazy cute!

And there's no secret that I'm a sucker for labels, so these goodies have a special place in my heart, so easy to apply on any project! I love that Trina always incorporate a few ,or severals to be honest, of them in the kits.

Now it's your turn - and I can't wait to see how you interpret this weeks Sunday Sketch. Remember to share them with us in the CTK Facebeook Fan Page!

Take care! Anna xo

Three to inspire

Hello crafty friends, Melanie here with another 3-to-Inspire post for you. I don't know about you but I sometimes struggle to use all those cute diecuts, especially the larger ones. Also all the gorgeous stamps from the shop can't be used enough and puffy stickers are always a good idea, right? So I inspire you to use:

  1. Diecuts
  2. Stamps
  3. Puffy Stickers
For my layout I used the 'Heartbreaker Scrapbook Kit' and the 'Magic Happens' Stamps.

A great way to use Embellishments for me is to make clusters and layer them. I started to build some layers around my photo and began with the larger Diecuts. One of them was used for my journaling.

After that I added some smaller ones and puffy stickers. The puffy stickers give a nice different texture.

I used the golden frames as a layer too and added some ticket stamps from the 'Magic Happens' Set underneath for some contrast (I needed to take off or fold up some of my embellishments for that and eyeballed the placement of the stamping).

I also used the 'be you' phrase to fill in some of the space in he tickets.

I finished the layout off by adding some black splatters and stamping and glueing it on a piece of patterned paper which makes a nice frame. I really love the colors in the kit and am very happy how the Layout turned out.

As I need to catch up in my 52 Favorites TN, I have a TN spread for you too! I used the Pocket Life Kit and the 'Magic Happens' Stamp for this spread (have I told you already, how much I love the Stamp 😉)

For my spread I used a large photo I took one morning during my bike trip when the light was magical! I placed it on the left hand side and put the title and a journaling card on the right side to balance it. I used the stars from the Stamps as a background for my photo and added some diecuts. I layered  stamp and puffy heart on top

and also stamped directly on my photo and made a ticket by using the Stamps.

I put some stamps and a puffy heart on the journaling card as well and then added my text.

I hope you liked my Layout and TN spread and I can't wait what you're all creating for this prompt. Don't forget to share on Instagram using the hashtag #citrustwistkits so we can see your work. And come join us in our Facebookgroup for more inspiration and fun.

Have a great time,
Melanie

PL Challenge with Adele

Hi peeps!

I had so much fun jumping into the fab Heartbreaker PL Kit for September! This may well be one of my fav PL pages I have made in the last few months, I think it was because of the mix of fonts in the journaling cards and stamp sets.

This month, I challenge you to use small square photos in your PL spread. I often find square shaped photos difficult to use. However, at a smaller size I find them easier to add to my PL weeks because I can add journaling around my photo.

I loved combining different fonts this month, with a combo of the puffy yellow letters from a previous month's PL kit, my handwriting and the beautiful Magic Happens stamp set.

I have also created a process video for this month's PL challenge, I hope you enjoy watching!

Embelishment Fun with Neftali

Hello there and happy Thursday CTK fans! It’s Neftali here once again this month ready to share some scrappy inspiration using the September “Heartbreaker” kits. I was so excited to see that we had so many Amy Tangerine goodies from her Shine On collection this month. I wanted to get the best use out of all these fun stickers and ephemera pieces so I decided to create a layout having some major embelishment fun! But I’ll let you be the judge, take a look:

So. Many. Embellishments. Am I right? Let me tell you how I got this layout done.

I started off by choosing my photo and then using the Crate Paper Willow Lane pink patterned paper as the main focus in the center of my page. I didn’t measure anything, I just never do, I simply cut so that it would be a very large square at the center of my white cardstock base.

I added a little texture to it by lifting the edges with my fingernails and also adding some “peek-a-boo” tears on all four sides. I loved the pop of color from the underside!

Then all of the embellishing fun began! Since I had such a large piece of cardstock in the center, I wanted to create a look that seemed as if the embellishments were tucked under and coming out of the peachy pink paper.

I layered so many textured and pieces from a mix of the kits. I used the chipboard stickers, the ephemera pieces, and the cardstock stickers, (all Amy Tan!)  and finally some black splatters to bring it all together.

The final thing I added was the journaling piece from the Shine On ephemera pack under my photo and three of the little flowers from the chipboard sticker sheet. I thought this to be the perfect touch to this layout as it matched so well with the photo of my sweet family and myself this past Thanksgiving.

This was all I did to create this fun layout that gave me such great use of the Shine On pieces. I hope you have enjoyed this bit of scrappy inspiration today, and I invite you all to take some time from your busy day to get crafty with your September kits. Have a lovely end to your week scrappy friends! Xo

How to use cut files without a Silhouette

Hi guys, Diane here with a couple of ways to use the amazing FREE cut files in the Citrus Twist shop, without a Silhouette (or other electronic cutting machine)

I'm fully aware that an electronic cutting machine is a hefty investment when it comes to crafting, but just because you don't have one, doesn't mean you can't take advantage of the free cut files that Citrus Twist has for you! So I wanted to show you a couple of easy ways you can use the cut files to create stunning pages in your Traveler's Notebook or on your scrapbook pages.

The first way is to simply cut them by hand! By printing out the cut files and using them as a guide for hand cutting, you can get the exact same look as cutting them by machine. It does take a little bit longer and the results aren't exactly as precise, but it is still an easy way to create your own cut pieces.

A few tips:
  • Use a really sharp knife.
  • Don't apply TOO much pressure, just enough to go through the paper.
  • Keep the blade flat, use the whole blade rather than just the tip.
  • Always drag the knife towards yourself, rather than pushing it away from you.
  • Be VERY careful to keep those fingers out of the way!

The second way to use cut files is even easier than the first, stitching guides! Simply print the cut files out and use them as a template for stitching! This is such a simple technique for adding loads of texture and personality to your pages. And its the perfect activity to do while you're catching up on your favourite series too!

Here are a couple of ideas for using cut files without a Silhouette and my process for putting together this very simple page...

I can't wait to see what you do with all the amazing digitals from Citrus Twist so don't forget to post them in the Facebook Fan Page so we can see!

Tuesday Tutorial with Cece

Hey, friends! Cece here with a Tuesday Tutorial for you all. Today, I'm sharing how this Bible journaling entry I did using the elements from this month's GraceBox came together.

First, I wanted to put some paint down on my page. The easiest way for me to get some color down was to use the paint card technique where I just put a bit of acrylic paint at the edge of my paint card and swiped the paint from left to right. I swiped down some light pink first in three different areas, then waited for it to dry before swiping down a sunny yellow color just below or above the pink.

Next, I fussy cut these florals from one of the patterned paper, used the Willow Lane alphas and "enough" die cut and placed them down to my liking.

Then I added the words "Christ is..." right above "more than enough." I knew I wanted to add more elements, so I placed some washy and layered them on top of each other on both the top and bottom and of the page. Then I took the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane Sparrow pattern paper and cut up the birds and placed them around the page and added some heart and cross die cuts to fill up some of the empty spaces.

Last, I added some lines to write down a short prayer and topped the page with the ribbon clips I made using the fabric strips that came in the kit.

I hope you enjoyed today tutorial. Come check out my on Instagram (@candiescorner) to see what else I've been doing with this kit and to follow my progress.

If you haven't already, check out the details of this kit in the shop. I look forward to see what you do with it.

Have a blessed week and keep on creating!

Inspiration with Alena

Hello  CTK friends! I am so excited to be with you today sharing a little  inspiration with the September kits. I decided to play with the colors on the page of my Project Life.

First I created and printed a photo collage - all pictures in the same size. Then I placed them in staggered order.
All embellishments were grouped by color. And finally I added accents with paint.

The second page is quite simple:

I hope you are inspired to create something with your CTK kit today!
