Pocket Life with Pamela

Good morning everyone!  This is Pamela back with my October pocket life spreads.  October's kit is just full of colours, fun embellishments and loads of alpha stickers. Did I mention there are lots of alphas?

I made two very different full week spreads with the kit - one that is a bit more simpler, cleaner and whiter and one that's full of colours.

2014-week38-1

I'm loving those cloud die cuts, the cut out shapes and the adorable alphas! I did a very simple title card for Week 38.

 2014-week38-3

I used up some of my remaining goodies from the September kit (like the Crate Paper journal card). I don't mind mixing kit contents together - it often leads me to create a spread that has a different mood than the main month's kit!

2014-week38-4

I love that geometric pattern paper so I pulled out some journal cards with similar colours from the previous months.

2014-week38-2

I just love these cute cutouts!

2014-week38-5

And here you get to see the cork stickers, the label stickers and the alphas (from the PL embellishment).

2014-week38-6

Now my second week has a more Autumn-vibe to it.

2014-week39-1

I made another simple title card using the alphas and a few of the die cuts from the PL embellishment kit.

2014-week39-3

The CTK exclusive journal cards are designed in the same colour scheme as the PL kit so it was easy to coordinate the colours.

2014-week39-4

My other side uses some goodies from the previous kits. Can you spot the contents from the September kit?

2014-week39-2

I cut up the 4x6 journaling card from Crate Paper from last month's kit and trimmed it down to 3x4.

2014-week39-5

I had a few more of those arrows left so I stitched the onto a solid colour pattern paper and did some journaling in the center.

2014-week39-6

Here are your PL sketches for this month!

Fast Scrap Tutorial With Evelyn Pratiwi Yusuf

Hey everyone, today I’m going to share how to do fast scrap using CTK Main Kit (Creative Space) and Autumn Embellishment Kit. I gather my supply and I add Acrylic Dabber Aqua Color. Because I really wanna play with acrylic paint which very popular these day but wanna use it in simple way.

IMG_9896

First of all I use my brush and draw circle in white card stock. I draw two circles; the big one and the small one right in the middle of the page. I just do it without over think. I didn’t use water because I want to pop up the texture of the acrylic it self.

Yes I hate to wait until the Acrylic dry but trust me it doesn’t take any longer than you think. The next step is I decorate the photo. Do layering put some buttons and wood veneers randomly.

The last step is using the CTK clear stamp that you will find it in the kit. I mix 3 type of the fonts of the stamp as a mini tittle.

Enjoy the final result and have fun to try it at home! See you in another post love Evelyn Pratiwi Yusuf

Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hi there! Nathalie here to share a new fantastic Sunday Sketch with you as well as a page based on it:

As soon as I saw this sketch, I thought it had a great potential to become an 8.5x11 page. So I grabbed my gorgeous October kits and got to work:

KITS USED: "Creative Space" Main kit, "Autumn" embellishment kit
NON-KIT ITEMS: Office tag, enamel dots

The main kit has the most gorgeous turquoise shell buttons. I used all three on my page.

I then went on to make a card because I thought this sketch would work just as well for a smaller format:

I hope you feel inspired to create a 12x12 or a 8.5x11 page (or even a card!) with this sketch.

To play along this week and for a chance to win $5 to spend at CTK store, upload your projects based on this week sketch to the CTK gallery. You have until November 1st and please include "Sketch 10/26" in the description.

How to use leftovers with Lucia

Hello girls! I hope you're all having a great weekend!
I'm so excited today to share with you a cool technique that I came up with! No pinterest or any other inspiration, I can proudly tell you that this idea was born in my own head, which doesn't happen very often, lol.
It's all about leftovers ...

...  and all those scraps that you don't want to throw away because they are too pretty. What I did was that I grabbed some glue and scissors and started to glue them on a piece of paper (it was a thin 12x12 paper that you find in a page protector of a new album).

I've started with larger pieces and kept layering. I was using a brush and Aleene's Tacky Glue that I watered up a bit cause it was too thick.

The smallest pieces came in the end.

Eventually I machine stitched everything.

What I got was something like a little artwork :) I was planning to use it for layering so even if the 12x12 page looked gorgeous, I've cut it into smaller pieces:

And they are just lovely. I used some of them to embellish the page I've created after, but you can use them as pages for a mini album, for layering or even as a decoration or wall art :)

And the best part is that I filmed the proces! :)
You can watch it here:

Thanx for reading/watching and I hope this will inspire you to recycle and use up the bits of pretty paper :)
Have an awesome weekend!

Pocket Life with April

Hi CTKers!  April here to share my Pocket Life Week 34.

To be honest, the colors from this month's kit were out of my comfort zone, but I have to say, I ended up really LOVING the kit.  I think part of it has to do with the fact that I don't typically gravitate toward such warmer colors like oranges, but I thought this kit was very nicely coordinated.  Thanks Trina!

And just as a weird coincidence, the tint of my photos this week ended up being more orange-y than usual because of the lighting at the restaurants we were at, so I thought most of my photos matched the kit well!

Left side - This week, I had dinner with my girlfriends and I found out that I failed my one hour glucose test and had to take the three hour test later in the week.  Luckily, I passed the three hour test!

I made a simple flip-up pocket this week by just adding washi tape across the top of the pocket!

Freestyle Mini Album with Kasia

Hi! It's Kasia here today to share with you a new mini album made with just one of October kits! To build this mini I worked with the "Pretty Pieces" add on. The kit is so full of amazing goodies that I didn't have any problems to make my album and there are still so many pieces left for me to use!
I was inspired by all the beautiful colors and wanted to repeat them through the book so I grabbed some of my acrylic paints and had mixed media fun! I ended up with rather messy, freestyle mini book for you this month! Have a look:

Did you like this freestyle mini album? If so you can try some of the below tricks while working on your own!

1. Mix some big photos into your mini albums design- they will balance the colorful and busy pages and bring more attention to the story you want to share;
2. Don't be afraid to stamp/stitch/glue things on your pictures- make them pop by adding things or techniques directly on the photos;
3. Recycle (or upcycle!)- as you can see on the pages of my mini I included some pictures of the embelishments which came from the package as well as the bag the embellies were packed in- don't be afraid to recycle;
4. Go bold with your paint- I love soft watercolor look but if you are starting with paint try acrylics- they are much easier on paper (it doesn't wave so much), they give strong, staurated color and they do mix in the most beautiful ways;
5. Have fun- try to make messy, art journal inspired, free style mini and have fun with it! Experiment, make your hands dirty, try new colors and techniques- free your creativity!
