Be Inspired

Trina here today sharing my Be Inspired post for the week. This past week I used the blog of one of my favorite scrapbookers--Jana Werner--for inspiration. On Jana's site I saw a blog post where she shared this scrapbooker's layout--“little Möwje” von Fräulein Pilzrausch – Pilzrausch--and decided to let that page be my inspiration.

I couldn't resist using Heidi Swapp's brand new Color Shine mists in Coral and Citron. They have just the prefect amount of shimmer. Here is the page I made:

I worked with the October Main kit and used some embellishments from our October "My No. 1" embellishment kit and the brand new monthly PL embellishment kit, October's "Love This." Some summer beach photos worked perfect with these kits.

This month we've got some darling paper clips with coordinating ribbon attached. These are perfect for slipping onto your pages. I sprinkled sequins on my page. They remind me of the water drops flying up in the air as the girls ran in the ocean.

Here's a close-up of some adorable new ribbon photo corners. Any ideas what company and line these are from? Adorable in the cellophane pack, stick them onto the corners of your photos and you'll love the results!

I absolutely love this linen ribbon! It has 2 strands of baby pink embroidery floss running through the ribbon and you can pull on the floss to gather your ribbon:

Tuesday Tutorial

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday Tutorial.  Today I wanted to show you how fun it can be to take a plain tag and make it fun and then add it to a layout.

So first I want to share my layout with you.  I used the October kits which is by far my ALL time favorite kit!  The only thing I add was the tags for my stash.

Untitled-2

Now for the tutorial.  First I mixed some simple acrylic paint with some molding paste.

Oct.-1

Then I applied the paste over a mask on the tag.

Here is what it looks like finished.

I then took some more molding paste and mixed some mist in to the paste.

Here is the finished tag.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this has inspired you to create some fun tags.  *Hint: there just might be one coming in your November kit.*

simple strategies with Gina

Hi everyone, Today I'm sharing my creations using the gorgeous October kits as well as a few little tips you might like to try out on your layouts..

Gina Oct kits..

I've used some loose thread around the enamel dots and sequins and 'grunged' it up a bit with some hand drawn doodles and triangles. I've added also lighted touched the ink in places with a just wet fine paint brush. You will need a pen that bleeds a bit to do this

The Prima wood veneer alpha from the Add-On kit have been inked with Prima "Old Road" ink

To add texture on this page, I've pleated a section of burlap ribbon and then secured with a Tim Holtz fastener. Once again I've inked up the wood veneer alpha with another chalk ink

I've used some touches of yellow water colour and a splattering of charcoal mist

the extra, non alphabet thickers can also make a great embellishment on pages..such as these plus signs
and of course I had to use the wood veneer alpha again for the title!..this time inking in both red and white (I didn't have any pink).. I love how thin these alphabet are, and so easy to machine stitch through

..and finally, I thought I would share a simple way to balance out a left aligned layout by adding a corner piece. Just hand-cut a couple of corners off two left over papers and add an embellishment with a few scrap thread trims behind

thanks for stopping by, wishing you a fun and creative week ahead!

Sunday Sketch with Sandy

c3
It's Sunday and I have a layout for you based on another one of Kaisa's fabulous sketch. As you can see I stayed close to her sketch. The only change I made was placing the tags below the picture which worked better with the triangular arrangement of figures in the photo.

I used lots of Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party from the October kits, pairing them with a couple of word labels from the Basic Grey Capture Snippets available in the store. The grid pattern is a free online download which I printed onto vellum. The only things added from my stash are the circles chipboard and the background paper.

To play along with our sketch challenge, upload your layouts to the gallery by November 2nd to get your name in a drawing to win a $5 GC to the store. When uploading to the gallery you can name it as you would normally but please include "Sketch 10/27".

Coffee Rituals- mini album inspiration

Hello! Do you have some kind of rituals which you like repeating day after day, season after season? They are great topics for mini album! You can show step by step story with many photographs and create a sweet little memory to keep for the future. Our little tradition are coffee mornings. We love nice coffee prepared in a special way and my mini today is all about it :)

I used October kits:  "Celebrate" main kit and embellishment kit " My No 1" as well as the fun food related stamps add on- "Good Eats"!

I played here with my usual favorites- layers of paper, some beautiful die cuts, stickers and journaling spots. Sequins add gorgeous bling to the page so I couldn't resist them sprinkled around my mini!

For the title and some of journaling I used a giant roller stamp from Pebbles which you can find in Citrus Twist Store- it's really great tool to work with and the effects you get are both fun and spectacular!

Playing with Pocket Life with Sam

Hello there! This is Sam today to share one of my weekly spread using the October Pocket Life kit. I am loving the soft colors with hint of gold in Crate Paper - Flea Market paper pad. I love that the three weeks spreads that I made using October kits is very pastel and pink (my favorite color)!

Today I am going to share with you how I manage to catch up 7 weeks of PL spreads in 3 days time. And 3 of the weeks were made using October kit.

I came up with a strategy in catching up with my Project Life:

1. Work on the most current week and then work backward whenever I have time. I worked from week 40, then go backward till where I fall behind - week 34.
2. Not more than 12 photos in a week spread. This is vital as I tend to print too many photos, say 20-30 photos just for a weekly page. I ended up making 3~5 pages worth of pages just for one week. Instead, I picked only up to 12 photos that I think it tells the weekly story and print them week by week.
3. Work using a kit. I used Citrus Twist kits for the 3 weeks spread (show below). And I am in love with this month exclusive stamp and the 3x4 cards!
4. Follow the sketches by our inspiration girl Kasia provided in the kit. Sometimes it is hard for me to follow sketches when doing PL, but I love to pick up the way she arrange embellishments in her sketches. So I follow the way she embellished her sketches and that make decorating the cards so much easier!
5. Keep my cards as simple as possible, to get it documented is more important than making sure it looks pretty in my PL album.

Here's my week 40 using only October Pocket Life kit. There are a lot of pink, teal and arrows here.
