Going Small with the December Scrapbook Kit

Hi all and happy Thursday! We are in the final stretch to the holidays and if you are at all like me, you're feeling a little strapped for a time and a bit anxious to find a bit of time to play with your kits. For me, my creative time relaxes me and finding time to do even a small project goes a long way in helping me manage the stress that often accompanies this busy time of year.

The projects that I am sharing today are examples of how I pounced on a little bit of down time and quickly made a layout. My secret to getting them completed in a short amount of time--I downsized them! Instead of making my usual full size 9x12 layout, I made 6x8's! With less space to fill I am able to get in and get out and I am left with the happy feeling of had made something! Mission accomplished!

Having a kit ready to go is also a big time saver. The fun December "Kinsley" Scrapbook Kit had all that I needed to quickly document a few memories from the summer. I also really appreciated how the kit wasn't too specific in theme and I was easily able to scrap vacation pictures.

Wishing you all a very happy holiday weekend!

King of My Heart-December Grace Box

I am so excited about my first post on the Citrus Twist Kits blog! This month’s kit was packed with so many fun goodies that I have had so much fun creating with.

This page is focused on Psalm 125:1-2
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem
so the Lord surrounds his people
from this time forth and forevermore.

This verse has meant so much to me in this season. I love that it is a promise and reminder that God stands with His people at all times.

I started off by spreading a thick coat of white paint down on the page so that the alphabet stickers would pop once they were on the page.

Once the paint was dry I pulled out the October Afternoon stickers from this month kit and began to arrange them on the page. I choose to spell out “King of my Heart” for this page after I had listened to “King of my Heart” by Caves. My favorite part of the song is when they sing, “Let the King of my Heart be the mountain where I run, the fountain I drink from. Oh He is my song.” When I look at this page I want to be reminded that, while God is always standing by my side, I am also striving to be close to Him.

Next, I pulled out the fun die cut pack that was included in this month’s kit. I loved the pink circle that says “THIS” as my tab. And let’s not forget about the super fun, Illustrated Faith washi stickers that come with the December kit. Since I journaled a song I used the music note washi stickers at the   top and bottom of my page. The XOXO tape is also a part of the kit, which I thought went perfectly with the music notes.

To finish off my page I splashed some watercolors across the page as messily as I could. I had a blast worshipping as I worked through this verse and I’m so glad I could share it with you guys.

Merry Christmas, friends!

Give Me Jesus | December GraceBox

Hi Everyone,  It's Gina Lideros here today to share an entry in my journaling bible using the December GraceBox!

I started off my page in 1 Peter 1:3 by painting abandoned coral paint (included in the kit) across the page and then I allowed it to dry.

Next, I used a variety of green, teal, white and orange gelatos across my page.  I used the stamp included in the kit with black dye ink to create a fun background on my page.

I used a fine tipped marker to place a box around my scripture 1 Peter 1:3.  I used some washi stickers, and die cuts to help highlight my page.

My journaling reads Give me Jesus 1 Peter vs 1:3 born again to a living hope.

Supplies Used:
Ranger Distress Paint, Abandoned Coral (from the Dec kit GraceBox)
Stamp set (from the Dec kit GraceBox)
die cuts, paper clip (Dec kit GraceBox)
Illustrated Faith Washi Stickers (Dec kit GraceBox)
Ilustrated Faith black journaling pen
Tsukineko StazOn Jet Black Dye Ink pad
Studio Calico: Large Date Stamp
other: gelatos

Sunday Sketch with Lilith

Hello there everyone. Today is Sunday which means a new sketch. Once again I had a sketch with several photos which I tend to have a hard time with. I opted to use a couple of Snapchat pics of me made when I was in a silly mood. I thought they'd be perfect for the sketch.

I stuck to the outline of the layout but interpreted it a little  more freely. If I have a hard time with a sketch I tend to let go of certain elements so that I can create something I like. I decided not to add the scalloped circles on the left and right hand sides of the layout. Here is my interpretation:

To play along this week, create a layout inspired by the sketch and upload it to the CTK gallery with today's date (12/18) in the title and you will be in with a chance to win a $5 gift certificate to spend in the CTK store
Happy Scrapping.

3-To-Inspire with Emma

Hi everyone!  Emma here with this weeks 3-To-Inspire challenge!

We offer this new challenge every Saturday for those who need a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or those of you just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little something is an added bonus!).

I hope you'll join in with me this week using the following prompts:

1. Create a banner using die-cuts (be they your own or those in the kits).  Bonus points if you are able to include layers in your banner!
2. Use word stickers
3. Include the colour BLUE

And here's a look at the page I created:

I absolutely love the die-cuts included in this month's main kit!  I mean the colours are spot-on but the actual die-cuts themselves are adorable.  I'll be honest in saying I set the rules of this challenge just so I could make good use of them!

The banner was so easy to make, I just layered my die-cuts over the width of my page and stitched straight over the top to keep them in place.   To help create a border on my page (and reduce having all that white background) I used one of the 6x6 papers from the Pocket Life kit and added it to the top/bottom of my page.

I actually picked my photo based on the colours of the die-cuts for this page ;)  The pink in M's dress and blue in Z's t-shirt were a perfect match!

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum.  I really can't wait to see your pages!

Thanks, Em xo

A Special Holiday themed 3-to-inspire with Andrea

Hello there! It's Andrea and today I want to share with you a fun Holiday-themed 3-to-inspire challenge!
Yay!!!! I can't wait to get started...so let's get to it shall we?! :-) First, check out my layout:

It is Holiday time and for this challenge I want you to use the following on a fun scrappy layout of your own:

  1. Holiday/Winter themed images ( i. e. gingerbread men, Christmas trees, snowflakes, deer, snowmen, mittens, stockings, Santa, etc).
  2. Use pics (more than one) of special holiday moments
  3. Add a sprinkle of holiday sparkle...whether that is the use of sequins, gold, stars, glitter, or all of the above, add a touch of shimmer and shine to your page to make it festive!

For my layout, I used the absolutely awesome and adorable December Kinsley Scrapbook Main kit and the Embellishment add on kit! I love these kits! The main kit is filled with beautiful patterned papers and such happy colors and sweet decorative peices! It is perfect I think for winter and the Holiday season but doesn't scream holiday...its more subtle and therefore much more versatile. I loved using it to scrap my Christmas-time experience. The pretty, happy colors really evoke the hopeful holiday feeling I was going for!

I wanted to make a layout that was about my Holiday season. To be honest, the holidays this year have lacked their usual luster due to poor health on my part. However, I am still dreaming of having a beautiful Christmas-time. For this reason, I thought I would make a layout that would portray the true feelings that I am having right now about the holidays – that being that there may only have been a few holiday things that I have been able to do so far this year, but that each is precious and is all part of a beautiful picture of hope for the future.

I am dreaming of a healthy, happy Christmas right now and I am so thankful for the good moments that I have been able to have so far. These three moments pictured in my layout held such Holiday happiness...putting deer antlers on and being silly with the hubby, looking at Christmas magazines with some apple cider from Starbucks, and actually going to an outdoor Vintage Holiday Fleamarket for some fun Christmas shopping when my pain wasn't so bad. They may seem like simple things, but I think during the holiday hustle and bustle and all the pressures that come with this time of year, we can often forget what is really important – the small and simple moments of love and laughter and beauty!

For your challenge, choose pics of holiday moments that are special to you right now. What do these photos say about your Holiday season this year? Try to tell a story that has a deeper meaning than just
“we had fun”...not that there is anything wrong with that...but take this opportunity to really think about what the holidays mean to you right now. I guess this would be a little bonus challenge...just from me to you! :-)

Remember to use your holiday pics, your holiday themed images (like the gingerbread man and tree and snowflake die-cuts I used on my layout), and a sprinkle of holiday sparkle to complete this 3-to-inspire challenge (I know I had fun with some sequins and gold and stars myself)!

Don't forget to share your creations for this 3-to-inspire challenge with us on the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum. And remember to share on Instagram too...when you do tag @citrustwistkits and hashtag with #citrustwistkits and #ctk3toinspire ! Hope you like my Holiday layout and I hope you have yourself a very happy Holidays!!! Hugs!!!!
