Live For The Journey | Elsie Robinson

Hey everyone! It's Elsie on the blog today and I've got a 12x12 layout to share with you all.

If I'm being honest, this layout took a completely different direction to the one I started out with. I love creating soft and whimsical layouts, but I wanted to challenge myself to create a really bold and graphic layout.

In some ways I think I still achieved that look, but I still kinda ended up with the cutesy-whimsical-thing! But I'm totally not sorry... I think this layout blends those two looks pretty well.

I was inspired by the angular shapes and patterns in the kit, and also this kit's namesake: Ralph Waldo Emerson. I took one of his more famous quotes ("Live for the journey, not the destination"), and went for an adventure/travelling theme which works perfectly with this month's kit.

The puffy sticker campervan from the Sprinkles Add-On, worked perfectly with the theme, and it looks so seriously adorable!

The stamp sets in each kit are divine. I used some of them with some light beige ink to create some subtle details on the background.

Also, I absolutely love the way the photo kind of seamlessly works into the layout. This is something I've never done before, but it's definitely something I'll be doing again. I think it adds to the playful vibe of this layout.

Thanks for joining me today, I had a blast making this and I hope you got some fun and inspirational ideas for your layouts!

Sunday Sketch part 2 with Andrea

Hi all! It's Andrea here and today I will be showing you another take on the Sunday Sketch! Now that you have seen Suse's beautiful 12x12, I thought I would share with you an 8 1/2 x11 alternative! I'm using the same adorable November Citrus Twist kit and the same awesome sketch, but for a differnent size layout and to tell a different story. That is what is so great about sketches, you can use them to suit whatever your scrapbooking needs are! And that's what is so great about this month's kit...it is so versatile!

Lets get started, shall we? First, take another look at the sketch:

Even though the sketch is originally laid out in 12x12 form, an 8 1/2 x11 can be easily adapted from the same basic plan. For my layout, I used some white 8 1/2 x11 cardstock as my background and built up from there, layering up some of the pretty floral Maggie Holmes Gather patterned paper from the kit and some of the Reset Girl for Simple Stories library cards behind my photos.

On one library card, I added some stamping using the exclusive stamp set from this month.

One notable difference is that I used an additional photo in my layout than is originally called for with the sketch. I can get away with the additional photo without throwing off the balance of the layout by using one large focal photo and then three much smaller photos that help tell my fall story more fully.

I used tags behind each of the three smaller photos that take up the space of the three horizontal rectangles lined up down the right side of the sketch. This was inspired by the tag at the top of the sketch.

For the border that is called for in the sketch, I used pen to draw a kind of diagram around my layout, leading from the title at the top "Beautiful Good Day" (made from the Amy Tan thickers and one of the exclusive stickers from the kit) around the whole page, drawing your eye from photo to photo, and then back up to the sentence beneath the title - "this was such a special day with you".

For some special fall touches to my page that help tell my story, I added some leaf shapes. I used some of the pretty black and white Simple Stories patterned paper from the kit and a leaf cutfile I designed, at the top of the page, and then one of the beautiful gold leaf paperclips from the Sprinkles kit, at the bottom of the page.

I hope you enjoyed this look at an alternate 8 1/2 x11 take on today's Sunday Sketch! I really loved this beautiful Fall day out in October with my hubby and I hope you are having lots of special Fall moments with your loved ones!

P.S. Remember to play along with the challenge by posting your Sunday Sketch inspired layout to the Citrus Twist Gallery with today's date (11/20) in the title. You could win a gift certificate for $5 to the Citrus Twist store! Yay! Can't wait to see what you guys make!

Sunday Sketch with Suse

Hey gang! Suse Fish with you today for our Sunday Sketch challenge. Let's head straight to the sketch...

It's a fab one, isn't it? I loved the challenge of using three identically-sized shots on one page. I'm normally a 'one square photo per page'-girl, so to use three made for a completely different look for me.

I used the opportunity to make a page about our kittens: I have oodles of photos of them doing cute, wonderful things, so to use three on one page really helped tell their story.

I couldn't resist making my photo 'stack' slightly quirky though... I can never have things too lined up and neat!

I just adore these Amy Tangerine words, don't you? They make the most gorgeous titles, especially against a pretty, lightly patterned background. I couldn't choose between 'crazy' and 'beautiful' as the kittens are very much both, so I decided to combine both words!

To play along with this week's challenge, create a layout inspired by the sketch, upload it to the Citrus Twist Kits Gallery with today's date (11/20) in the title, and you might win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store. Have lots of fun!

3 to Inspire with Veera

It's time for our weekly 3 to Inspire challenge! This week I'm challenging you to

  1. Use cork embellishment
  2. Use word/phrase stickers
  3. Hide your journaling
Here is what I came up with using these prompts:

Once again the Citrus Twist Kits exclusive paper was one of my favorites from this month's kit. I decided to use this beautiful woodgrain pattern as my background. I tucked my journaling in a glassine bag and embellished the layout with cork and word stickers. And the topic, our cute little puppy!

Now its your turn!  Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us in the CTK Gallery and/or on our Facebook Fan Page for a chance to win. Don't forget to add today's date in your title.
You can also upload to Instagram and tag us @citrustwistkits.

PL Sketch Friday with Tara

Happy Friday friends! Tara here on the blog with today's challenge - I do hope you join in. As always, don't forget to read through to the end to see how you can win some happy mail.

**This post is picture heavy!!**

For the month of November, I'm working in my traveler's notebook on a daily photo journal of thanks and gratitude. My friend Elise over at Feed Your Craft has been doing My Thankful 30 since 2013. I haven't done a project like this before, so I was super excited to join in the fun. The November Emerson PL kit was just perfect for this too!

Here is what I came up with for prompt 6; I made it more about where my home is instead of the town or city I call home. I love that you can tweak the prompts or use different ones - whichever fits your heart and your gratitude best.

I wanted to include a quote about home. To make the page a little more interesting, I added some white gesso and mixed water and the antique linen Tim Holtz distress ink to create some small paint splatters.
I used past Citrus Twist Kits stamps to make a border on top and my favorite this month - the chipboard word pieces to add some depth and color.

Here is the whole left page. I didn't want to waste any extra bits from the exclusive triangle puffy alphabet, so I took the triangle sliver from the "A" and used it as an embellishment.

Here is a look at the right side:

I made a cascading photo collage because I couldn't use just one photo. It was really simple - just add washi to both front and back sides and a little bit more to use as a guide to flip up!

Here are the other photos and flip through of them in this layout:

I created a hidden journaling card using some cardstock in my stash and added more patterned paper. Some of the washi I used was from my stash, included the ones from the October Waverly Scrapbook kit.

Here are both pages again. I think that this sketch would work well for a double layout or pocket pages. The sky is the limit.

Finally here is your sketch!

Thank you for stopping by today! For your chance to win, create a project (layout/pocket pages/traveler's notebook pages/mini album, etc) based on this sketch. Post your project in our Gallery and/or Facebook Fan Page with the title PL11/18. Post your entries by Friday, November 25th, 2016.

Have a lovely day!

It's the Little Things

Hello there and happy Thursday. I've found myself so busy lately that it's been hard to fit in the scrapping. As I was looking back at photos for this weeks pocket life spread I realized I have also not been making time for taking photos. I want to get back to being better about these things.

For now I was able to focus a bit more on the little things. A new hair style, a favorite meal, silly faces with the boy... even puppy cuddles and iPad time. These are the little pieces that make up our lives and I have them captured on this spread.

One of the things I've always loved about CTK pocket life kits is how easy it is to play catch up. The pages I made this month were from dates in September... the color schemes and embellishments still totally do their part because they are not "fall" themed. Winning!

I love when cards for not so great things are included too. It's all part of life! Put it in!

Here is a look at the full two page spread. This came together in a jiffy thanks to my kit. I implore you to take a moment this weekend to sit down with your kits and scrap a few things. You'll feel so great about it... record all of those little things that make your life uniquely yours.
