Sept Grace Box - Some Mixed Media Fun!

Hi everyone! It's Bonita Rose here!

Today I'm showing you what I did to dress up
some watercolor paper, using some spray inks in my stash,
along with the CTK Exclusive Stencil and the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse
in this month's Kit!

I decided to make some of my own Mixed Media paper inserts,
so I can just have fun with paints and other wet media,
and create some little 'Arting' Notebooks for my A6 size Travelers Notebook!

For these covers, I used some of the acrylic paints, and ink sprays
I had in my Studio, then using a palette knife, I smoothed on some
of this pretty blue Nuvo Mousse across my stencil.
Lifted up the stencil right away, then let dry.

Look at those raised areas of the stencil!
So neat!

Next I added some gold sequins, and used some of the
stamped phrases from this month's stamp set!

On the yellow insert, I added the silver word Magic I had from my stash - across the front.
My inside title page is one of the art cards included in this month's Kit!

On the red insert, I added one of the tags from the ephemera pack!
And for my inside title page for this one, I chose some of the fun ephemera from the pack!

When you get your GraceBox Kit this month,
try this technique with the Nuvo!

Don't be afraid of it.. pull out the stencil and the Mousse,
and play!

Pocket Life Process with Marie Lottermoser

Hi Everyone!  It's Marie Lottermoser here today to share a little of the process I go through when putting together my Pocket Life pages.

I always start with printing out my photos. I use Photoshop to resize and organize my pictures. If I'm making a double spread layout (for a 6x8 album) I can usually fit all of my pictures on one 8.5" sheet of photo paper.    Once I have my photos printed I go through my Citrus Twist PL kit and choose the paper and embellishments that work best with my photos.

I like narrowing down my options so I'm not overwhelmed when putting together my pages.

Then I get busy putting everything together.  I put my photos in their pockets first and then comes the fun part of adding papers and embellishments.

I find making my pages this way speeds up the process for me.

I do the same thing when I make single 6x8 pages for my album.  In this case I can usually print all of my photos on one 4x6 piece of photo paper.  Then I make a mini kit pulling cards and embellishments from my PL kit that will work with my pictures.

Having just a few options to go through makes putting cards and photos together a breeze.

And that's a quick look at how I go about making my Pocket Life pages! Thanks so much for joining me today.

Tuesday Tutorial: Faux Stitching with Stamps

Hello all! Wendy here to share up a Tuesday Tutorial using the wonderful Citrus Twist Kits stamps and 'stitching'.  Well, let's say, 'faux stitching'.

You can achieve the look of machine stitching or hand stitching with using the past August stamp sets.

Let's get started!

1. Start by using the stamps from the Citrus Twist Kits (CTK) August 2016 Pocket Life kit and any past CTK stamps that have similar designs.   As soon as I saw the stitched and zig zag lines stamps in the set, I knew I wanted to create a faux stitched effect on my layout.

2. Stamp around the border of your paper in repetition with the stitched lines stamp.  Then, switch it up and add the zig zag lines stamp for added interest along some of the stitched lines.

3. Use a black fine tip journaling pen to create some freehand stitching to mimic 'loose threads' along the stamped lines and zig zags.   Be careful not to overdo it ("less is more") for just a few random add-ins of the freehand stitching.

That's it, done!  Easy peasy, eh?

You can embellish the rest of your layout as you like with pattern papers, stamps, chipboard title work, more freehand stitching on some of the pattern papers to tie it all in together, ephemera, and stickers from the Citrus Twist Kits.

Also, I added a touch of hybrid scrapbooking with the digital elements (i.e. days of the week) overlay on my photo by using Photoshop.

**Bonus tutorial:  Also, I added in some handmade enamel dots by using the Nuvo Crystal Drops available over in the CTK shop.  Seriously, those drops are addictive!  I want ALL the 20+ colors!  Just a heads up...I'll have a quickie tutorial coming to my Instagram (@lifepapersoul).  I'll come back here and drop it in this post for how to add those to your project.

I had fun with this layout!

Let's see you give it a try with 'faux stitching' on your next project!

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial!

Sunday Sketch 9/4

Good morning!  I can hardly believe we are already in September. Where did the year go?  Of course today is Sunday which means it is time for a new sketch.

Here is my page using the sketch. I stuck pretty close to the original.  I loved the simplicity of it and how it helped me to highlight one of my favorite photos from this summer.

My favorite part is the painted wood veneer word.  I used a metallic acrylic paint to make it shiny.

Now it is your turn to create something with the sketch.  Don't forget to upload to the gallery or facebook group for the chance at a $5 gift certificate.  Place 9/4 in your title so we don't miss your page.

3 to Inspire

Hi guys and welcome to this Saturday's edition of our 3 to Inspire! This week I happily took on the challenge and created a layout featuring the new September Kits. To play along with the challenge like I did, all you need to do is create a project based of the following prompts:

1. Add a border.
2. Layer with 2 or more different elements.
3. Give it some sparkle.

Here's what I did:

To create a border and I layered my white cardstock on top of a piece of patterned paper and then I stiched around the edge. For my layering elements I used patterned paper, a glassine bag that held some embellishments, and diecut tag. Finally, I added some sparkle with both sequins and a fun crystal heart.

Now it's your turn! Make sure and post your project in the Gallery with today's date (9/3) in the title and you could win a fun prize from the CTK Store. Looking forward to seeing what you all do!

Shine - September GraceBox

Hi everyone!  It's Gina Lideros with you here today to share a bible journaling page that I created using my September GraceBox kit!  This month, I am sharing an entry in one of my journals.

I absolutely love the bright vibrant colors and selections of products in this month's kit.  I started with the Tip-ins by Illustrated Faith and chose the one that read "The Scriptures Are True."  Then I chose my scripture Matthew chapter five, verse sixteeen "Shine Before Others That They May See Your Good Deeds And Glorify Your Father In Heaven."

After I chose my scripture, I applied a thin layer of clear gesso across my journal and used a heat gun for faster drying.  Once the gesso had dried, I then applied salmon, magenta and orange watercolors across my page.  Next, I applied the dot pattern stamp across my two pages.

After applying the pattern stamp, I used a black journaling pen to add journaling to the left hand side of my journal.  I used the stencil included in the kit to add a ray of light to both of my pages.  I did this by simply filling in the image with my black journaling pen.

To complete my pages, I just added a few die cuts, a date stamp and a couple of fastener clips from my own stash.
