Carefree

Good Morning all!  Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Today I am bringing you a super simple but fun page.  I have been missing my paints lately but have not had time to use them.  This photo was calling for something a little extra so I pulled out my watercolors.  Since this was an ocean photo, I made the watercolor "blob" look a bit like water.

The little triangles were cute from the Shimelle Starshine "Gallileo" paper  All I did was cut one of the small squares in half and the corners off of another larger square.

Isn't this triangle stamp awesome? I went just perfectly with the other triangles on the page.

To finish off the page I used watercolor drops and some color shine in a similar color to make "splashes" from the waves.

kits used - Driftwood + Sprinkles

So, I got to play with my watercolors and have fun scrapping.  The best of both of my favorite hobbies.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a fabulous rest of your week.

Inside My Travelers Notebook - July GraceBox

Hi everyone!
It's Bonita Rose again sharing with you this page
inside one of my Travelers Notebooks.

I use this one mostly for a faith journal
and jotting down my thoughts to God.

I used a few elements on this one from this month's

I added color to my page first.
Next I stamped some black designs on the page,
then freehand, drew some lines for what what on my heart.

My next step is always the journaling.

My heart was saying,

Help me to
LIVE my life
closer to You.

I used the alphabet stickers in this month's Kit for the word, LIVE.
Next, I chose some of the white word strip stickers, and finished my page off
with some of the puffy blue crosses on the right side of the page.

Of course I had to add a pretty Prima Flower to this page,
because well, I love flowers!

My journaling reads:

Help me to feel Your Presence in my every day.
My every moment.
Let me never doubt you are near.
You are here.
You are as close to me as my breath.

Tuesday Tutorial with Marie Lottermoser: Stamping on Page Protectors

Hello Everyone!  It's Marie Lottermoser here today to share one of my favorite stamping techniques with you.  Instead of stamping on a journaling card or photo, try stamping directly on top of your page protector.  This technique works especially well with see-through pockets, where you get a nice dimensional look.

Make sure you use a permanent ink such as Staz-on which works on any surface including plastic. Be careful to hold your stamp steady so it doesn't slip or roll on the page.  Press down slowly and evenly. On this page I used the stamp set which came with the July Pocket Life kit as well as a roller date stamp.  You can also use a sharpie pen to add your own handwriting.

Once your ink is dry, choose some of your favorite embellishments to add in the pocket.  Use a fuse tool or sew your pocket shut.

By using thicker embellishments you will pop your stamping up, and add a fun shadowed look to your pocket.

I hope this inspires you to try different ways to stamp on your pages, including directly on top of your page protector.   Have a great day!!

Bible Journaling Tutorial by Jessy Christopher

Hello there again! Jessy here to share with you the creative process on how I created on my journaling bible page. It's always refreshing to receive the GraceBox each month!

To begin, I will usually prime my page with gesso. I applied gesso so that my page will not be too wrinkled and the colours on the medium will stay true. The Faber Castell gelatos are amazing medium to use & you can usually spread it smoothly by using water. I love how easily they blended.

Once everything is air-dried, I adhered some gold washi tapes randomly. I love how subtle they look against the background colours.

Next, I decorated my page with all the embellishments that come in the July GraceBox. I always love the mixture of pastel + bold colours in the box. It is always fun to hand-lettered some words, that would give personal touches to your creations!

Here's the completed page...

I hope you enjoyed today's creative process using the July GraceBox. Do share with us what you have created as we would love to see and be inspired! Thank you for coming by!

Xoxo Jessy

Sunday sketch - Suse

Happy Sunday to you, friends! Suse here with you today for our regular Sunday Sketch Challenge.
If you fancy challenging yourself (and you could win a little scrappy treat!) why not have a go at this one with me?

It's a lovely sketch, isn't it? I liked being pushed out of my comfort zone a little in using two rectangular photos instead of my usual one square shot. I also enjoyed thinking a bit laterally about how to treat that central band.

I've got to be honest, the July kits could not be more 'me' than if I'd picked them out myself: the pretty colours, the fun imagery... they were a delight to play with and I'm so happy with the playful end result of this page.

It's amazing how kids' smiles change so quickly at this age, isn't it? Kitty had lost both front teeth in these photos and it changed her entire face. I wanted to document that lovely gap-toothed grin in a cute, happy way.

I'm enjoying using my typewriter for journalling these days... as much as I wish my handwriting was lovely, it never looks very special to me, and this vintage printed look makes me much happier.

I reached a point with my page where I felt it had enough going on on it... yet there were still elements of the sketch that I'd not included and wanted to. So I decided to add elements like this fish tail banner and the strips at the top and bottom of my page, in vellum and white - that way, they're there without packing too much of a visual punch.

I hope you feel inspired to play along with this fun challenge - you could win a $5 gift certificate to spend in the Citrus Twist Kits store. Just create a project based on this sketch by Saturday 23rd July and include 'Sketch 7/17' in your title when you upload it to our gallery. Have fun!

3 To Inspire with Veera

Hi, It’s Veera here today to share you my first 3 To Inspire challenge! I loved making this layout with my July kits and I hope that you’ll be inspired by these prompts!

Here are my three prompts for this week:
  1. Use doilies
  2. Divide your journaling to two places
  3. Use enamel shapes
This is the layout I made using the July “Driftwood” Scrapbook Kit and July Sprinkles Kit:

For me the doilies really made the design of this layout! I created two clusters on the page, both connected to the doilies. As I had two clearly separate clusters on the layout it made sense to divide my journaling to two different parts too. I used gold gel pen for my journaling to emphasize the yellow patterns on the paper and the golden enamel stars.

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project, share it with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum! Make sure to include the date of the challenge (7/16) in the title of your gallery submission! Can't wait to see what you create!
