Inspired by... art supplies

Hey guys! What do you do when you need some quick inspiration on the days when you actually have time to create but your mojo simply isn't around? I used to look through blogs and pinterest but recently I've found better way to feel inspired- I call it color therapy! I just browse some art supplies photos- beautiful shades bursting from pictures of paints, crayons and pastels; amazing art journal entries; unique techniques on paintings and great color combinations make me feel super inspired!

And when I look through photos like that than the only thing I want to do is tun to my desk and make something- of course with my paints! You don't need to have a cupboard full of expensive supplies to create beautiful mixed media works- simple and cheap products work great too! So here is my layout created with march Add-on kit and yes... a dash of paint from my stash!

6x6 Paper Play with Sam

Hello lovelies! Today is Sam to share a layout using 6x6 paper pad. I have very limited scrapping time this month. All thanks to the yummy March kit that keep my inspiration flowing. I made this quick layout under 30 minutes.

I printed a 4x6 photo for this layout because I want this layout to be really photo-focus. It is hard not to notice the photo because this selfie photo of me and my baby boy is filled up by our faces! And what is not to love when you have a poser baby who is obsessed with taking selfie? *lol*

Weekly Photo 1`

Once I place the photo on the layout, I just cut a few stripes from the 6x6 paper pads to add layering under the photo. Layering done then I moved on to add some embellishments - stickers, cork sticker, enamel dots and stamp. I am in love with the mini cut-out from the paper pad that says ' Busy Being Happy'. What is better than busy being happy?

Weekly Photo 2`
Loving this month stamp set that says 'do small things with great love' which is part of my motto ;) And I am also obsessed with the hot air balloon + gold heart-shaped enamel dots!

Weekly Photo 3`

I cut out the circle with 'Photo of the week' from one of the exclusive Pocket Life card and use it as title for this layout. This is so apt since this is our weekly selfie after Shichida class.

Thanks for looking! XoXo, Sam

Tuesday Tutorial with Nathalie - Capture Life

Hello there! I am back to share my very last page created with the March 2014 Fireflies main kit and stamp add-on:

KIT USED: March "Fireflies" main kit and "This Moment" stamp add-on + an older CTK stamp set (arrows)
NON-KIT ITEMS: date stamp, paints and black Thickers (asterisks)

Now I want to share with you a little trick that I used here on my background but also on other projects with my CTK stamps:
--> See the "This Moment" stamp with the arrow pointing right? Well, I wanted to use it in both directions but that would have looked weird with the text upside down on one side...
... so here is what I do: I attach a sticky note on the part that I don't want an impression from and ink only the part that I want:
You can also use this trick when you just want to stamp one word out of a sentence, like I did for my card last month:
--> I used the "so in love with you" sentence but only wanted the word "love" on my tiny tag so I blocked the rest:

It's a simple trick but it expands the possibilities of your CTK stamps!
That's it for me this month! I am already busy with my April kit and can't wait to share my pages with you!
Happy scrapping!

Simple Strategies with Tanya

Hello! It's Tanya here and I want to share a layout made with March main "Fireflies" kit - amazingly bright and colourful kit. And it has so many cute embellishments. Love those wood frames and big butterflies!

Today's post is all about simple strategies. And I want to show how you can use both sides of the double-sided paper at once. At first make little cuts on paper and than  curl the edges with your fingers. I love how yellow colour pops up on edges!

And here are some close-ups. The word "click" I've made using Studio Calico Mistabels letters.
I've sprayed it with light green ink.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoy playing with the March Kit!

Happy Sunday, everyone! Nina here with this week's Sunday Sketch and my layout based on this one.
But let´s start with Kasia´s beautiful sketch....

It´s a beautiful one, isn´t it? It was the prefect reason to use (after a long time) the great Studio Calico sunburst mask in combination with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray "Coral" to create this kind of background.

To play along with our sketch challenge, upload your layouts to the gallery by April. 7th to get your name in a drawing to win a $5 GC to the store. When uploading to the gallery you can name it as you would normally but please include "Sketch 23/3".

Our day layout with Amélie

Hi there!! Here is Amélie and today I am going to share with you my new layout made with March Main kit and Embellie kits. To make this layout, I essentially used three colors blue, yellow and wood. I really love this colors association. It gives to my layout something natural and lightly.
On this day, sun is shining, it was a good day for playing outside! After lot of rain, it was marvelous!

Pocket Life with Jen

Happy Friday and happy Spring to all! Today I am sharing my week 7 using the March PL and PL Embellishment kits. For this layout, I pulled from the softer colors of the Day Dreamer 6x6 pad and the CTK exclusive cards to work with the photos of winter and Valentine's week.

JenB_MarPL_1
When baby girl photos are involved pink is always just right! The CTK flair in the PL kit this month was spot on perfect. When documenting a hilarious quote from my 4 year old son, I used a snippet from one of the cut apart sheets in the 6x6 pad (remember) to turn the "She said" OA card to the gender appropriate "he said."

This week my mother and my uncle were both visiting from out of town and I made sure to include photos of them with the kids and to document some of what we did. I wanted to add Valentine's day but, not overwhelm the week's happenings so, I used a photo of my three children on the holiday along with the heart shaped donuts that have become a yearly traditional treat. In the left corner? Documenting real life as we experienced an ice dam which caused major damage to our kitchen. The raindrop pattern in the 6x6 pad was very appropriate, as was the "overflowing" stamp from the PL set.

I kept my weekly card in the same soft tones. the ampersand and In Review pieces are from the OA pack (Thickers were from a previous months' kit).

For the carousel photo of my youngest son with my mom, I used just the Magic piece from one of the cut apart cards. And, to highlight my husband shoveling even more snow, the darling Elle's Studio alphabet and one of the DL stickers.
