Saturday Inspiration with Gina

Hi everyone, I'm here to share a couple of pages with you, created with the gorgeous 'Beautiful Life' main kit and a couple of items from the 'Day Tripping' embellishment kit. The main floral paper used here, made me think of vintage florals and was perfect for this funny pic of my daughter and her friend trying on what they call "granny florals" (or something your grandmother would wear) then taking selfies in the changeroom.. I've added some patterned paper squares down the side (after scraping a little white gesso over to soften the colours) then machine stitched in plain and zigzag for a patchwork effect..

along with a couple of handcut stars, journaling, flair and chipboard arrow..

to finish, I've added a few Studio Calico chipboard stars and stamping using the main kit stamp and "Bring it On" stamp add-on

I've kept this layout quite simple, leaving quite a lot of white space, because I wanted to show off this beautiful white woodgrain cardstock, which has such great texture.. I really like mixture of white and cream together, along with mint, woodgrain and yellow. I've added a few paper layers behind the gauze and doily. A little machine stitching helps to hold it all down.

I hope you're enjoying your kits as much as I am..happy scrapping!

Guessing Game #4 - 6x6 Paper Play with April

Hi everyone!  April here to share a simple layout I made using the 6x6 paper pad in June's PL kit.

This was a super simple layout I made to document a friend's bday celebration that I recently attended.  I created this layout using 3 sheets from my paper pad cut down so they were evenly divided along my 8.5x11 page, then layered my photo along with some embellies from the June PL Embellies kit.

Tuesday Tutorial with Nina

Hey everyone it´s Nina again here on this fantastic Tuesday. Today I’m going to share a layout tutorial using the Citrus Twist Kit May Main "Sparkle and Shine" and Embellishment Kit "Happy Girl". Lets get started:

To begin the page you need a picture in the size of the golden chipboard frame. You can use some 3D pads to add photos layers with a little bit more of dimension.
In the next step cut a strip and card out of the Webster´s pages paper for the use in your background.
To make the layer more fluffy use a piece of silk paper (this one is from my stash), fold a bit bigger than the frame, and fix it with a tiny attacher.
It´s a great detail to use a paper straw also on a layout. You can cut it lenghtwise with a sharp knife, add some liquid glue and press it down careful onto the cardstock...
Add some pink ink splashes onto the background.
To get a great feeling for the measuring of the page cut out the rub-on words with the back foil. So you can easily find the final place for it. Do the same procedure with the embellishments you want to use. If everything looks great you can flip up the edges to add some glue behind.
And this is the final result....

Thanks for visiting today the CTK blog.

Simple Strategies- adding texture to your layouts

Hello! Kasia here today with a layout made completely with this month's main kit. When I looked through the kits items I knew they will allow me to create almost a monochromatic layout- I love making these! I thought it would be also a fun excuse to talk a bit about adding texture to your pages- when you cut on the colors textures pop and allow you to highligth details of your work!

Adding textures will make your pages look more dimensional. The easiest way to do it is through playing with layers. Try to use different materials- patterned paper, vellum, book pages, cardboard or stickers- they are all paper but have different quality so they will add lots of beautiful detail to your layout.

Another way to add texture is using medias. Try to start with simple white gesso or acrylic paint- you can paint with them, smudge over the layers on your page, stamp the pattern you want- the thicker the paint the more texture will be visible on your finished project.

Dont limit yourself with paper and medias- you can grab some other materials which will build texture look- think of small enamel dots, thickers, cut files or fabric- all  or some of them layered on the page will make a beautiful, textured details for your layout!

I hope you enjoyed these tips and will try with playing with textures on your projects! Have a fun day!

6x6 Paper Pad with Kasia

Hi! For todays 6x6 paper play I decided to go a bit of my comfort zone and create a very busy and colorful background. You can do it easily with papers which come from the small paper pads as the colours already coordinate but if you want to experiment this tutorial could be also used with any scraps which you have laying around!

I picked some of the 6x6 papers from February Pocket Life kit; glued them and stitched with my sewing machine. I cut them and stitched again creating kind of patchwork.

After I was happy with the result I attached this base to piece of plain cardstock and layered a simple composition with products coming mostly from February Pocket Life kit and Pocket Life embellie kit. I also grabbed some small pieces from the main kit which as you know coordinates perfectly with Pocket Life kits! Here is my finished layout:

Tuesday Tutorial with Nina

Hi, it´s Nina here today sharing a fun, yet simple tutorial using the Citrus Twist February Kits.  The focus of this page are these cute little October Afternoon chipboard frames in combination with brush writing.
Choose four different frames from the sheet and group them under your picture to measure up the space for your painting.

To write your title use watercolors, Mister Hueys or other black paint you have in your stash.
Add Thickers under your dried painting to complete your title work.
To create the bottom of your page add the number strip (Elles Studio Patterned Paper) as well as a double loop using the packaging twine.
Stamp journaling phrases with an acrylic block, black ink and Citrus Twist execlusively Kit stamps directly on the page and on a white strip of paper. Add the strip flag at the top of the photo using a tiny attacher. At least add some wooden hearts and October Afternoon "Pop Drops" on the layout.
