3-to-Inspire with Nathalie

Hi there!  Nathalie with this week's 3-to-Inspire.   The newly released "Perfectly Posh" kits are so gorgeous, and packed with so many goodies, it was so easy to pick three prompts to inspire this week's' project.  Here are the prompts:

  • Incorporate the Maggie Holmes Crepe Fringe
  • Add butterflies
  • Use fussy cut elements
This is how i combined the prompts in this project:

First, the background was created using a combination of the liquid watercolors from Pinkfresh Studio available at the CTK shop.  I used Aquamarine, Blue Sky, Bubble Gum, and Yellow to create the watercolor look on the background. Make sure you check the watercolors at the store, they are so easy to work with ;)

While the background dried, i used papers from the "Perfectly Posh" Scrapbook kit to back the letters in the cut file/title - this cut file is available at the CTK store for free-, as well as to add layers behind the picture.  In addition, i took some time to fussy cut a few of the flowers from the Simplicity paper from PinkFresh Studio included in the kit.

A bit of foam adhesive was used to attached the title to the page, next i tucked the picture of my kids at the top corner of the title, and started to embellish the layout using all the fussy cut flowers, pieces from the cut apart page -available for free at the CTK store- as well as stickers and washi tape from  the embellishment kit.

Lately, i have been creating pages with  hidden details, so i decided to use some of the crepe fringe-included in the Perfectly Posh kit-  as part of my peek-a-boo element in this page.   For this, i cut a piece of the Pinkfresh Studio Simplicity paper.  Next, i carefully glued the the fringe at about half an inch from the edge of the piece of paper, then trim the excess fringe. Since i wanted to have a long piece of fringe at the bottom layer, i continue to glue the fringe next to each other until the entire bottom edge of the paper was covered.  Then used a different color of the fringe just to add an extra layer above the one just glued.

The paper with the fringe was glued to the bottom of the page.  Here i carefully distress the bottom edge of the cardstock so that the fringe border would show, and decided to add a butterfly from the foam stickers included in the "Perfectly Posh"kit to bring the eye to this detail.   So a few more butterflies around the page just bring the page together.

A few  stamped sentiments from the kit's stamp, and the "So Very You" Traveller's Notebook Stamp complete the title, and add a few more details on the page.

Love how this page turned out.  This month's kits, add ons, digital files are amazing, so it made this page a true joy to put together.  And now it is your turn to use this week's prompts to create a page of your own.   Remember to share your finished projects on the Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page on Facebook or on social media (tag us using #citrustwistkits).  I cannot wait to see what you create with the prompts and all the August kits (they are so gorgeous!!)

Summer times twice

Hi lovely CTK friends!

Anna here today bringing you some lovely summer feelings. I've made not one but two delightful pages made by the CTK June kits. More specifically the Cypress Main Scrapbook kit, the Embellishment and the Pattern Paper Play kit. They are gorgeous each and everyone :)
I've also been playing with one of the fabulous June CTK cut files, this one designed by the talented Nathalie. And I did use the whole paper from where I cut out the cut file as well, if it makes sense :)
Have a look at both of my pages below and you'll see what I mean, lol!

Be sure to sign up for a subscription of one or more kits by your own so you don't miss anything since they can get sold out very quickly.

Anyway, here's what I came up with this time.

Here I've used the ordinary cut file and I've backed it with a white cardstock that I've been "smooshing" lots and lots of  different color mist's on. YUM!

Love the CTK clear stamps. I thought the "Let's Go" stamp worked great here. Also, who can resist the lovely green enamels? At least I couldn't, lol!

This "excuse me while I freakout" sticker is just awesome and I'm so happy that I found out a way to use it.

Well that was number one and here comes number two, hang on :)

Here I've used the "holes" from the ordinary cut file and the letters from inside of the words.
I love when I can use the "whole thing", it makes my heart sing.

This photo is real summer for me, when even I can go outside barefoot in the grass, YAY!
( You know, most of the time I wear wool socks even in summer because I'm always freezing..)

Ohh! How lovely are these enamels? And the beautiful butterfies by Elle's Studio as well, gorgeousness!!

I did some fussy cutting from the "Pl-card" paper from Crate Paper Wild Heart to get my "HEY".

Well that's all for now. See you guys over at the CTK Fan Page!

Thanks for stopping by! Anna xo

3-To-Inspire with Emma

Hi CTK friends!  It's Emma on the blog today to share this weekend's 3-To-Inspire challenge!   We love to share this challenge every Saturday for those of you that are looking for a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or those just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little goodie  is a fun  little bonus!).

I hope you'll join me this week using the following prompts:

1. Give yourself a "colour challenge" - focus on using a colour you normally wouldn't on your project.
2. Use a cut file (this could be one of the awesome free cut files from our store).
3. Include more than one photo.

And here is the page I came up with!

For my colour challenge I focused on using purple!  I actually love purple as a colour but I really struggle using it on my layouts  Just seems so..odd haha.  The June Main kit has quite a few  pops of purple in it, so it was a great opportunity to challenge myself!

For my layout I teamed one of the papers from the Main (Noteworthy No.2 by Elle's Studio) and the Heart Doodle cut file (designed by our amazing DT member, Nathalie!).  I cheated a little for my multiple photo's by creating a collage on my phone and then just printing that :)

I used the white cardstock as my background but after laying it all together (before I stick everything down) I realised it was a bit too "plain" so I added one of the pattern papers (Noteworthy No.4 by Elle's Studio) on top but trimmed it slightly shorter so the white cardstock became my border around it.

I had to add a bit of machine stitching on my page so I grabbed my purple cotton and added  a few zig-zags at the top and bottom.

Once that was done it was just a matter of getting all the other purple pieces included in the Main kit and popping them around the page.  As I was putting all the purple on the page I thought it really needed some contrast - hence the pops on green on the page! I think they pair up nicely :)

Those expoxy stickers from Elle's Studio are gorgeous, loved using them on this page!

Between you and I, I'm still not in love with using purple on my layouts but I do have to confess I think this one is kinda cute!  Do you struggle with using a particular colour on your projects?  Please tell me I'm not alone! ;)

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project/s and share them with us on our Facebook Forum.  I can't wait to see your take on this one!

Take care, Em xo

3-To-Inspire with Kelly

Hello friends! Today I am back with our first 3-To-Inspire challenge for the month of May. I have loved playing with this kit and hope that you will play along for a chance to win a prize!

My prompts are as follows:
1. Use tulle
2. Stitch (machine, hand, or both)
3. Use at least 3 patterned papers

Here is the page that I created using one of the cut files available as a NSD freebie in the shop.

For this layout I used the Malibu Main kitMalibu Pocket Life kit, and the Paradise Add-on kit. I started creating the page by backing the heart cut file with papers that contained pink, coral, or aqua. Adding in the black and white polka dot brings a bit of contrast to the page.

I'm a sucker for birds and knew that this sweet bird would make the perfect accent on top of the photo.

The doily and twine are from my stash. I stitched through the title to add a bit more detail to the page.

My mom has dementia, and we have had to make some serious life changes for her. It's been hard, and when I saw these stickers from Pinkfresh Studio, I could not believe how well that they told the story of my layout. Sometimes journaling is not even needed when your products say everything that you need to say.

I chose to layer the tulle behind the heart. I cut several squares so that the color would be a bit brighter, and adhered it to the back of the cut file with hot glue. I wanted to make sure that it would stay in place, and knew that hot glue would do the trick.

I have included a link to my process video if you would like to see how this layout came together. Now, it is your turn to use these prompts and post your projects on  our CTK Facebook Fan Page. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a great day!

xoxo, Kelly

Let's Get Digital with Kira

Hello friends!  It's Kira again and I am back with a 12x12 layout using the exclusive Citrus Twist cut file for this month.  You can grab this cut file for FREE in the Citrus Twist Fan Page on Facebook.

I took inspiration from the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection when I created this cut file.  Ampersands seem to be a common theme throughout, as is that geometric feel.

To start, I enlarged the cut file to 11" in height.  I love a big statement piece on a layout, and the ampersand definitely achieved that.  Then I started backing the cut file with the 6x6 paper included in the pocket life kit.  At this point I was unsure if I wanted to back every open area, or leave some open.  So I just randomly backed some areas and skipped others, figuring I could go back to spots later if I so chose to.

I liked the look of the open areas, so I left it as is which the intention of doing some mixed media behind the cut file.  I experimented with some white cardstock and a variety of watercolors for my background, but thought it overpowered my cut file.  But I am in love with this  Good Vibes “Life’s Goals” paper!  So I decided to ad some white gesso around where I wanted to place the cut file.  And I would be lying if I didn't worry that I had completely wasted this gorgeous paper about twenty times during the creation of this layout!

But I stuck with my plan and continued with embellishing.  I chose this photo of my oldest son and me on Thanksgiving.  And I loved the "Squad Goals" phrase included in the High Five thickers.  I tucked the photo slightly underneath the cut file and used the thickers as my title.

I knew I wanted to try and use some washi tape on this layout since I always struggle to use washi!  So I fussy cut a few flowers from the floral washi and placed them around my page.  These served as the starting point to each of my three clusters.

I used pieces of ephemera from the Pocket Life kit, some chipboard stars from the embellishment kit along with some of the Wild Child puffy stickers from the embellishment kit.  I added some black splatters around my page, along with a roller date stamp, and called it done!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Make sure to head over to the Facebook group to grab this cut file, I can't wait to see how everyone uses it!

Until next time,

Kira

Sunday Sketch with Anna

Merry Christmas Everyone! Anna here to share my layout using the December 24th sketch.
Today we have Christmas Eve and this is the day we are celebrating Christmas here in Sweden.
I know most of you probably have to wait until December 25 for your big day of celebrations. Or maybe thats a releif, one more day to get the last things done before Christmas, LOL!

Any way, let's look at our gorgeous sketch to play with.

Michelle Wedertz foto.

And here's my take on it using the December Bundle Up Add On Kit and Trinas absolutely stunning CTK FREE digital snowflake cut file. Love the blues together with a touch of gold, YUM!

I really like this photo of our son totally cought up by the ride in a cableway last December up in the Swedish moutains.

I didn't change to much from the sketch as you can see.

For making my background I've used a few different color mists using the "plasic bag" technique.
Love this way of adding inks to a page, you have sort of control yet get a pretty uncontrolled feeling, that's perfect, lol!

Some stitches, of course! That's almost a must for me on my layouts.

My second "must have" are the cotton undernetath my photos and/or embellies.

Well, I hope you've got some inspiration here today!
This sketch was really so much fun to work with :)

Now it's your turn! To play along with this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to the gallery with today's date (12/24) in the title, and you are in for a chance to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store!

Until next time, take care! Hugs Anna xo

Let's Get Digital! with Trina

Good morning everyone! It is digital day here on the Citrus Twist blog. We've uploaded two versions of our free September film strip digital file to the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page (one PNG and one Silhouette file).

I've made two scrapbooking layouts for you in 6" x 8" trim size. These layouts were made using both the September "Twin Falls" Scrapbooking kit and the Pocket Life kit.

My first layout is based on the Sunday, September 3rd, sketch. It's a perfect use for 2" x 2" photos or cropping in on your subject's face, hands, feet, etc. (Note: two of our Sunday Sketch challenges feature this film strip this month!)

My second layout shares how you can use one photo behind the three windows on the film strip. Because of the positioning of the photo it didn't extend the full depth of the third window so I used some of the Twin Falls Ephemera (September Pocket Life kit) to cover that lower portion of the window.

Here are close-ups:

Be sure to share how you use the cut file in our Gallery and on our Facebook fan page.

Thank you for visiting today!

Sunday Sketch With Anna Uhras

Hello Friends, Anna here today! Happy Sunday everyone , and it's a very happy one for me since it's my very first blog post here as a Dt-member at Citrus Twist, YAY!
It's such an honor and I'm so happy, a dream have come true! Thank you Trina for having me!
I'm here today with another Sunday sketch for you.

I've used mostly the Main Kit other than a tiny little lovely text sticker from the awesome Embellishment Kit.

This is an awesome sketch to work with, acctually it spoke to me the very first time I saw it, lol!
My take is pretty close to the original design, I just turned it upside down.

Also I've used this months Free Cut File for my film strip. You can find it posted on the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page.

Here we go..

Love the touches of green here, my no1 favorite color!
It's a page about when our youngest daughter turned six years old, can't believe it, I mean SIX years old already... time flies.

Love this green camera!
And you can see my sewing maschine have been working, always does.
I think almost every single project from me have some stiches on, lol!

Here you see the "Press On" sticker from the Embellishment Kit, they all are awesome!
Also you can spy another of my signture things, some cotton thread, I love it :)

Aahh! can you see those lovely golden glittery alphas? Aren't they gorgeous?!

This was my take on this super inspiring sketch, can't wait to see yours! To play along with this weeks Sunday Sketch Challenge and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store, create a layout based off this sketch and post it in our gallery with today's date (9/10) in the title.
