Sunday Sketch with Kira

Sometimes, a sketch is so perfect, that you should just follow it to a T.  That's exactly what I did with today's sketch!  Here's a look:

And here's the layout I created:

I started by choosing my two photos.  I had taken the one on the right just last month.  I love the sweet, yet serious, expression on my son's face.  And then I got a notification from Facebook that I had memories "on this day".  When I checked the memory, the adorable photo on the left popped up.  How crazy that he gave me this perfect expression two years apart on the same exact day?!

I knew my title had to be "on this day" since that's what it says when you check those Facebook memories, and the rest of the layout was pretty identical to the sketch.  I even kept the large "2" in place, since there's two photos, two years apart, and my son is currently two years old.  So many meanings there!

I used a Life Crafted card as my base layer, and added another smaller layer from the patterned paper on top, using a bit of craft foam to bump it up. I used lots of bits and pieces from the LC kit around the page.  Only adding in a tiny bit of twine and ribbon for just a bit of addition texture.

I finished off the page with some black splatters, and left off any journaling since I felt the photos did all the work for me.  And that's it!  I hope you can play along with this sketch too!

Life Crafted Album Introduction Page | Theresa Moxley

Hello Lovelies! Theresa here today with an Introduction page in my Life Crafted album. The very first thing I noticed about this beautiful album is how it feels just like it came from the library, with its fabric cover and classic details. You are going to love having this album on your shelf! Here is how I decided to open my album.

My plans for this album are to include stories about my journey right now, some of the important work I am doing personally, and also some of the things I find inspiring. So it seemed important to create an introduction layout about myself and how this is a new chapter for me. The March Life Crafted kit provides so many beautiful opportunities and products for this!

I began my process with watercolors to create a background for stamping. Then I stamped a few labels using the This Is Life stamp set plus the stamp set in the Life Chapters kit. The background makes these stamps pop! One of the labels I have used as a layering piece on my journaling pocket. I also added one to my embellishment row over my photo.

I am loving the vertical format of this album and I decided to play that up with the elements I added to the photo. It started innocently enough with just a few embellishments at the bottom of the photo, but then I discovered the banner at the top and then I couldn't stop! Don't you just love when your products make you want to keep going?

Something else that really inspired me were the bookend stamps in the This Is Life stamp set. I don't normally alter the insides of my albums but I did here and I love how it turned out! I created an embellishment cluster by first stamping an image to ground the cluster to the page, and then added a word strip, a label, my title, and the pencil. I also stamped the bookend swirls in the corners.

One other detail I wanted to share is when you flip the pocket. I added the purple and blue stripes and layered a simple tag from the embellishments for the simplest treatment.

Here is one last look at this layout.

Thank you so much for joining me today! I hope you are inspired to use your March kit this month! See you again soon!

Sunday Sketch with Laura Rahel Crosby

Hey lovely CTK fans, I am Laura Rahel Crosby, a new members of the CTK creative team. Today I'm sharing my first ever blog post here and I'm so excited to show you my take on today's Sunday Sketch. Here's the sketch I was working off of-

You can see how this entire layout came here:

To creative this layout, I'm using the March Life Crafted kit and as you can see, it sure is pretty. I love how I was able to pull the cool blue toned papers out of the kit and make them work for a summer themed layout of one of my friends and I having a lake adventure.

Usually when I follow a sketch, I interpret it the way I think it works with my photographs, theme of the page, and size of the page I'm using. You can tell I took many elements of the sketch and incorporated them into my 8x8 sized traditional scrapbook layout. I created a large horizontal mat behind my photos using that striped paper. I used the glassine bag that held those cute cork numbers in the kit as my envelope type of pocket in between my photographs. I created photo mats for my photographs using various patterned papers from the kit and some white card stock. My title is at the bottom, a ripped strip of patterned paper is at the top of the page, with black paint splatters and journaling also in their sketched place.

The only thing I really changed was not using one of the numbers on top of my envelope in between my photographs. My page wasn't really wide enough (because I made a scaled down 8x8 version,) to fit one of the numbers without it overlapping my photographs. So I substituted a cute phrase from the stamp set this month in it's place and I love how that looks.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my first project for Citrus Twist Kits and that you give this Sunday Sketch a go! Happy crafting, Laura Rahel Crosby

3-to-Inspire with Patricia

Hello Citrus Twist Friends!  I am so very excited to be sharing my first project as a Creative Team Member with you today.  The March Life Crafted kit inspired me in so many ways, from the vintage feel, to the stamps and embellishments.  I was able to pick a 3-to-Inspire for you today, though!

My prompts to get you creating with this kit are:
1.  Use the Cork Numbers
2.  Stamp on the Cork Numbers
3.  Use the digital file that coordinates with the numbers called Telling My Story

As soon as I saw the cork numbers, I couldn't stop thinking about them, and how to use them.  I was reading in Psalm and came across verses that, at first, I thought were the exact same sentences.  Once I read them again, I not only realized they were not, but how powerful they were of being thankful to God.  And they happened to be verses 1, 2, and 3 of Psalm 136.  I used them to identify each verse.  For the verses, I used the label stamp from the March Life Chapters stamp set.

I used the same stamp set to stamp onto the cork numbers, and used the coordinating cut file, Telling My Story, to die cut the numbers to create my background.  I created a lot of texture with the background by adding the pattern paper behind the die cut numbers, as well.

I cut the stamped labels with the scripture verses in half, then used the ephemera pack to type the Book and chapter, added the stars, the arrow, and flower to add even more texture to my background to finish this page of my Life Crafted spread.

The left side is full of lots of texture and color.   I kept the right side more simple, but still added a cluster of the kits pattern papers die cut from the Telling My Story cut files to create a cluster at the bottom and to also add journaling to complete the scripture verses.

Once I had my photo added of my family going to church, I finished this side with sentiments from the Life Chapters stamp set, ephemera and chipboard from the kit that completed this story.

Thank you for letting me share and I hope this gives you one idea to get you started on how to use the cork numbers with the stamps, and the cut files.  Please share what you create in our Facebook group and tag me so I don't miss it!

I created a video to show you how this came together.
