Travelers Notebook Challenge!

Hello, there!  I am so excited to be back with you to give you a little fun challenge for your travelers notebook!  I am a big fan of using my travelers notebook inserts for everything - planning, memory keeping and lists.  One of the things I love to do most in those inserts is STAMP! Do you stamp in yours? No matter the answer, let's get to the challenge!

For today's challenge, I am personally using the September Heartbreaker Pocket Life Kit and the This Is Life, Magic Happens stamp set. However, you definitely can use whatever materials you love! My challenge is this: use patterned papers and/or pocket page cards to stamp on!  That's right - no plain cardstock for us!  [Well, okay, you can include that as well. But, as an accent!] We're going to use those patterns and make them work for us!

I think that this looks so cool and it's one of my favorite techniques.  Depending on what you're going to use the shapes for can help determine if you use a busy pattern or a more neutral pattern.  I wanted to stick to a red + yellow + black color palette since I was documenting Disney -- but you can use your photos and materials to choose your patterns.

Don't those look great?!  I think they make pretty much the perfect embellishment, since we were able to customize them completely.  You don't have to worry about what to use to color the images and you don't have to think about if you have the right color ink pad.  Just use what you've got!

Do you see the red ticket with the word Enjoy?  Do you remember how that was a 3x4" pocket life card?  I think that just turned out positively amazing!  It's even better than I imagined and is so perfect for this space. I also love how the black ink gives each of these pieces of patterned paper a distinctive edge or frame. So cool!

I also highly recommend having a few extras.  You don't know if you'll need them, and if you don't, you can add them to your stash for next time!

Are you going to play along with my challenge?  I sure hope so!  It's really fun and I think you'll enjoy it, too.  If you do, make sure you share on the Citrus Twist Facebook page or tag Citrus Twist on Instagram so we can see!

Documenting the Everyday and More!

Hey, there!  I am so excited to be back and share with you how I am continuing to document the ordinary, and the little bit more extraordinary, in my Travelers Notebooks.  There's so much fun to be had in these pages -- and whether you're using a micro size or standard size, you can pack in the fun!

This is another page in my All About Me travelers notebook insert.  I am using a standard size wide and it's been so much fun to put together!  I love that I am able to use not only whatever I want in it (I mean, it's all about ME!) but I can also use lots of feminine colors and accents -- which is so fun since most of my documenting is either masculine, or gender neutral.

I used some of the beautiful die cuts from the September Heart Breaker Pocket Life kit, (aren't they SO pretty?!) and then the favorite card from the month to mat and tie the whole page together! Now, obviously the die cuts aren't the only pretty accent -- I wanted to build a little more, so I used the epoxy sticker (love the color!) and the gold script puffy word, too.  I love how it all ties together and really lets me creatively tell the story.

Now, let's talk about another album I'm working on. This is a personal size insert which is a really manageable size. There's enough room to really tell the stories but it's small enough to not have to feel overwhelmed.  This album is my favorites.  I don't have to break it down, it's enough to include the photo because it tells a favorite story or it's a favorite photo.  This one is BOTH.  How awesome, right?

I kept the lefthand side simple because the photo is completely the show stealer and makes me laugh outloud.  So, a couple of die cuts and a 6x8 patterned paper from the September Heart Breaker Pocket Life kit made it SO EASY and super cute.  It is a great example of how a really good and engaging page doesn't have to be complicated.

Now, the stamp - it's stolen my heart.  This is Life - Magic Happens is exactly the perfect name for this stamp set and it was the perfect stamp for this layout.  Obviously, this is a Disneyland layout - and magic is everywhere there.  I couldn't help but embrace that and use a black, yellow and red color palette for my stamping.

I hope you'll give documenting in a travelers notebook a try if you haven't already! May I suggest any of the September kits as the perfect accents to your stories and photos?

Documenting - Travelers Notebook Style!

Hello, there!  Let's discuss one of my favorite projects - travelers notebooks!  I use them in a variety of ways but the most common are to document my memories [like a mini album], to actually plan in them or a combination of both.  I mean, why not combine function and inspiration, am I right?

This month, I used the Citrus Twist Kits to document memories and I am blown away by the amount of fun I had!

What's more fun that using a Scrapbook Kit in a travelers notebook?  Not much!  I loved being able to add beautiful bits and lots of dimension on this page.  And that patterned paper from the kit was perfect for a page all about travel!

Now, I thought it would be SO fun to keep it simple! I really wanted to focus on just this one stamp from the August 2018 Travelers Notebook stamp set.  It was so beautiful and I knew it was a perfect match for this photo of my beloved family dog.  Keeping the layout simple and repeating the same stamp really had a big impact!

I, of course, couldn't stop there!  It's just too much fun using these inserts to document.

I was so fortunate to go to Chile this summer and teach some planner classes. It was, for sure, a life changing experience.  I had to start my memory keeping of this trip somewhere!  So, I combined both the August 2018 Perfectly Posh Scrapbook Kit with the Perfectly Posh Pocket Life kit! They were positively perfect together, and I loved using the stamp from the scrapbook kit on here, as well!  [It was made for this layout!]

Are you documenting in travelers notebook inserts?  I love mixing them in my functional travelers notebooks to give me something inspiring to look at while I take care of the day to day!  It also gives me a fun keepsake to hold onto.  What a great way to preserve all of the memories!

Travelers Notebooks With Perfectly Posh!

Hello, there!
I'm so excited to share with you how I've been documenting some recent photos in my travelers notebook with the brand new Perfectly Posh kits. I used the Pocket Life kit work with these pages and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. It was so easy to execute the look I was going for -- I felt like the pages created themselves!

I started in my Favorites, personal size insert.  I use this insert for photos that are near and dear to my heart, for one reason or another.  I allow myself total and complete freedom in this album.  I don't have to journal, tell any particular story or anything like that.  It's only for me!  How freeing! Therefore, I really wanted to keep it simple -- with the basics.  So, the whole left hand side was simply a sheet of the patterned paper. The right side! Oh, my heart!  The die cuts are always my favorite and having one that says home?  It's literally perfect for this photo.  And I just love it!

For this page, we've moved on!  This is a special insert (standard size) I created for a road trip we took this summer to visit colleges north of us in California.  I was called to trim down this last page - so I did that and then got to layering and clustering the die cuts (again, I told you they are my favorite!) around this 2x3 photo. This is the final page in this insert - so I love how the eclectic design ties the whole insert together.

Last, but not least! Another page in the same road trip insert as above. This time -- I added some stamping with the Outdoor Adventures stamp set.  I am OBSESSED.  Like, I seriously love this stamp and have so many ideas how to use it!

For this page, I stamped the image at the top in black ink and kept the rest of the embellishments soft -- this way your eye is drawn upward.  Because, in case it was not obvious, that is a Redwood tree! I wanted to make the height felt in this page!

Are you using your kits in a travelers notebook?  How are you using them?  Make sure to tag Citrus Twist Kits so we can see your projects and be inspired!

Travelers Notebook Challenge

I am so excited to share this with you!  My family is taking a road trip this summer and so I am creating a travelers notebook specifically for this trip.  I decided to stamp the front page and use a combination of the July stamps including the This is Life Daily Routine Stamp,  the stamp from the Skyland Scrapbook kit and the stamp from the Skyland Pocket Life kit.

I started with the Outline Alphabet stamp - it was PERFECT here [and anywhere, really] and made a great title for the album. Then, I began to build around the title with other stamps, mostly using black ink, but adding a few pops of color.

There are so many fun combinations and with the Conversation Starters stamp set it was easy to fill in any blank spots with phrases that work with the theme.

As you can see in the photo, I did add a strip of a 4x6 journaling at the bottom, to add a bit of interest and a pop of color, as well. I also loved how the pink went with the yellow on the left & left the focus on the mix of stamps.

With this fun into page to my road trip travelers notebook, I challenge you! Want to play along?  Stamp your own overall pattern on your project!  Combine stamp sets & ink colors to create your own personalized project!
