Sunday Sketch with Anna

Hi dear CTK friends!

Anna here with you today bringing you this week's Sunday sketch. Well let's have a look at our super inspiring sketch.

Ingen automatisk text tillgänglig.

I love this week's sketch a lot! And I can not lie, lol! Who doesn't love a grid design? Anyway I do so I grabbed my  December Pleasant Valley kits and this is what I came up with. A pretty clean design and very true to the sketch. I opted for the Scrapbook kit mostly, except from the background paper which comes from the Pattern Paper Play kit.

Some stitches of course! Can't scrap without my sewing maschine you know.

There's also some light mixed media here to spy. I've used a pair of  pink color mist's using a plastic bag and the smooshing/kissing technique.

And there you have it! Be sure to grab your scrappy things and join in with us with this happy challenge. Just share your layout on the CTK Fan Page at Facebook so we can see your gorgeousness and leave you some love.

Until next time! Hugs Anna xo

Sunday Sketch with Trina + Emma

Hi CTK friends!  Trina and Emma on the blog today to share this weekend's Sunday Sketch.  First up lets have a look at our sketch:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! It’s Trina here, together with Emma, sharing our takes on this week’s sketch. I made this page to fit in my 2018 6” x 8” PL album.

I used this month’s bonus cut files to make the white cardstock paper piece. I pulled both papers and embellishments from the December 2018 Pleasant Valley kits.

Here is me layout. I stayed pretty true to the sketch - as I usually do - and wanted this picture of my daughter to tell the story.

Here is a close up of the star cut file and my pattern paper layers. I love how the puffy stars fit perfectly over the star cutouts.

I love Paige Evan’s small, colorful puffy stickers. They work perfect for small scrapbook pages.

It will be fun to see how you use this month’s sketch!

Xo,
Trina

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello CTK friends!  I love this week's sketch; combines two of my favourite things - layers and stars!  I'm a sucker for anything star related :)  I used the December "Pleasant Valley"Main Kit for my page, and here's my take on this fun sketch:

I tried to stick close to the sketch the time around. I used the bonus cut file to cut my stars but instead of using the negative I stitched the cut stars onto the background pattern paper.

I absolutely love the alpha's included in the Main Kit this month - they are the perfect size!

Instead of using the paper strips at the top/bottom per the sketch I went with a full border all the way around to frame the page more (and used the same pattern paper to match in with my stars!).

I challenged myself to use the bakers twine on this page so I just wrapped it around some scrap strips of paper and popped one of the cardstock / puffy sticker hearts on top.  I loved how it worked out, so  I did another bigger one and added it underneath my title at the bottom of the page!  Adds a bit of fun dimension to the page :)

Underneath the title I added a cute stamp sentiment and my date on one of the cardstock stickers!

I really wanted to add a pop of gold on the page and  there is only one gold tag sticker at the right size, so of course I messed it up when I stamped on it (didn't press hard enough, boo!)...but no worries, I just stamped on another one, cut it out and stuck it ontop to hide my terrible stamping job.

To finish it off I added a couple more embellishments above my photo (die-cut and puffy sticker) and called it done!

Such a fun sketch to work with!  I can't wait to see your pages using it.  Be sure to share your page with us in the CTK Facebook Fanpage (and please tag me so I wont miss it, would love to see your page and leave you some love!!).

Take care, Em xo

Travelers Notebook Challenge With Jennie

Hello, friends!  I'm so excited to challenge you to try something in your next travelers notebook layout!  I love using a travelers notebook to document our activities and the things that we do in our day to day lives.  One of my favorite parts about it is it's small canvas.  But, I also really like that I can try things that I might not else where since it's just one small space of many. So, let's get it into it!

I love the December kits.  Both the Pleasant Valley Pocket Life kit and the scrapbook kit are just beautiful this month.  So, I wanted to use mostly the Pocket Life kit, but added the alphas from the
scrapbook kit were just perfect, so I had to add them.  I LOVE the size, font and color.  They accent so well and yet are super subtle too.

So, the challenge?  It's easy!  Trim around the focus or main image in your photo!  It's kind of a retro trend, but it's also very fun.  I also love how it makes the total focus on the important part of the story!   Because I didn't want to upstage the Painted Ladies, I kept the embellishing to a minimum to focus on the photo.  Layered die cuts make a great base and I selected simple patterned paper [from the Pocket Life Kit] to not detract but accent!

Do you have any photos that you just love?  Why not trim around the main part of the photo and add it to the next travelers notebook layout?  This time of year it's fun and easy to do with limited time. If you play along make sure to tag us on Facebook or Instagram so we can see!

Product Highlight - Cardstock Stickers

Welcome back lovely Citrus Twist fans. I am here today sharing a layout with the gorgeous Emerson Lane cardstock stickers included in this month’s Main Scrapbooking Kit.  If you ordered the Main Kit this month, you’ll find that it’s a wonderful mix of Heidi Swapp goodies and these cardstock stickers can be the perfect staple for your layouts!

I decided to take the Heidi supplies specifically the cardstock stickers, which we are focusing on today, and two of the card stock sheets and create this layout:

The first thing I did was pick out my foundation sheet and I had to pick the “Sweet Nothings” sheet which has an amazing floral yellow and pink background. I am not always one to choose a patterned background as my base, but this sheet was too beautiful to pass up. I decided to add a bit of texture paste to the base where my photo cluster would go, just to give a little dimension and interest.

I then brought out the “Easy Peasy” cardstock sheet and used the cut apart elements to add lots of layering behind my photo. Then came the fun part!

I brought out the Emerson Lane cardstock stickers sheet and added my title using the stickers. I also added a few extra layers around the photo to give more interest. I used a date sticker to add my date, and a few of the Heart stickers to pop around my photo cluster.

Then I decided to create some fun interest to the left side of my photo by adding a column of the label stickers. I used all the different sizes, shapes and colors to add then from top to bottom. I love this effect!

Mainly, you are able to make some good use of supplies you might not normally use, like label stickers for me. But also, you find new ways to use supplies that can be very inspiring!

So lovely friends, I hope that you have enjoyed this share where I am focusing my use of the Emerson Lane Cardstock stickers. Now it’s your turn! Come share with us on the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page your wonderful creations using these stickers! That’s so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday Tutorial with Sarah

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!  Today I'm here with a tutorial that has to do with using square photos in your pocket pages.  I think square photos are often overlooked in pocket pages, typically because most pockets are sized for 3x4 or 4x6 cards.  However, I wanted to show you how you can still use square photos in those pockets and have a lot of fun with it!

Let's talk about 3 different ways to use this type of photo.  My photos are sized to 2.5 x 2.5 inches, which always seems to be the perfect size because I can keep a small white border and still have the photo fit on a 3x4 card.

In this first example I used two of the 6x8 papers from the December "Pleasant Valley" CTK pocket life kit and cut them both in half to make 4- 4x6 cards.  Then I took one of the 4x6 cards and cut it diagonally.  To make a pocket out of it, I simply applied double sided adhesive to the edges and then layered it on top of a 4x6 card that had a different pattern.  This makes a great pocket to tuck tickets or any small papers inside of.  Finally, I adhered my square photo right on top of that triangle pocket and added a couple of embellishments.

In this next example I layered my square photos on top of 3x4 cards.  I love doing this because it allows me to get more use out of my filler cards, and I also have room to do some more embellishing!

My last example is to treat a 4x6 card as a mini layout.  I like to keep my mini layouts simple so it doesn't get too busy with the rest of the pockets on the page, but this again can be a great way to use up some embellishments and just have fun with your pockets!

I hope you'll give some of these examples a try on your next pocket page layout!  Its a really fun way to switch things up from time to time.

Happy Crafting!
