Sunday Sketch with Alena

Hey everyone!  It's Alena with  layout for Sunday Sketch.

Here's a look at the sketch this week:

And here's what I came up with using the store's new products.

In the photos, my son is doing his favorite job - watering the garden.

For embellishments, I used these beautiful flowers fussy cut out of patterned paper "Reaching Out" by Jen Hadfield, new puffy stickers "Hello Sunshine".

There are scattered stars in the sketch. I replaced them with round emoticons, which I cut out with a round hole punch from patterned paper.

Well, then it is time for you be inspired by the sketch to create a page of your own.  Remember to share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook or by using #CTK, @Citrustwistkits on social media.  I cannot wait to see what you create with this sketch.

3-to-Inspire with Nathalie

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today to bring you some inspiration using our July release.   There is such an outdoorsy feeling to this month's release, that it was so fun to put this spread together using this week's 3-to-Inspire prompts:

  1. Multiple Pictures
  2. Hidden  Journaling
  3. Floating element.

Here is the spread that  I have created, and it spans through two layouts in my Life Crafted navy album:

These photo series is from back  in April when the weather finally warmed up, here in Toronto, and it was a perfect for a walk around the neighbourhood.

I am using 5 photos in this spread.  On the first part of the spread, I have sized my photos to 2x2.5".  I am keeping two of them together (film strip).  I used a piece  of patterned paper from Jen Hadfield's Reaching Out 6x8 paper pad  to back the photo.

I used puffy alphas from the July exclusive puffy words and Pinkfresh Studio  Happy Blooms collection ( add on kit) to create my title.

I needed to tie the rest of  the photos to the page, so I decided to create a floating element ( or so I call it) to help with this.   A 3x4" piece of acetate serves as pocket card.  I glued the third picture to the front of it, and  used the same patterned paper ( as in the title page) to back this card on the other side of the acetate.

On this second part of the spread,  I am using two 3x4" photos.   Once, I had the one photo on the pocket, and the back of my floating  element set, then  it was all about dealing with the journaling.

I combined two of the TN Digital papers to create the pocket for my page.   I used a digital card from May 2018 to create the tag for my photo, and slid it in the pocket, thus concealing the journal lines.

I just love how this spread turned out!   Remember to check all the materials used in the CTK shop, and join in the challenge!

Sunday Sketch with Desiree

Hey, crafty friends!  I am so happy to be joining you for today's Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Let's take a look at this week's lovely sketch.

I was excited to take on this sketch.  I decided to do a 12x12 layout with a photo of our first trip to South Carolina in over a year.  For this layout, I used July Citrus Twist exclusives as well as shop extras.

I started with white cardstock back with a patterned paper.

For my large cluster, I used the Pinkfresh Studio Happy Blooms 6x6 papers to back my photo.  To accentuate my cluster and add interest, I layered in the beautiful Pinkfresh Studio Happy Blooms florals.  I topped off the cluster with ephemera bits from the Endless Sunshine ephemera pack, including the big cute bear and "nature lover" die-cut.  I also layered in puffy phrase stickers from the Citrus Twist Lazy Days Puffy Stickers.

I used more of the lovely Endless Sunshine Citrus Twist exclusive ephemera to make two mini-clusters at the top and bottom left of my page. Next, I sprinkled in the pretty pastel Citrus Twist Floral Enamel Dots all over my page.

I completed my layout with the "Real Sweet" title using the gorgeous Citrus Twist Puffy Phrase and Icon Stickers and a few pink and blue splatters.

I hope you enjoyed today's challenge.  This layout came together so quickly with this fun sketch and all of the lovely July releases from the shop.  I hope you give it a try.

3 -To- Inspire with Aimee

Hey there, Citrus Twist friends! It's Aimee here with you today for another 3-to-inspire challenge. I am going to be using my Life Crafted album

Here are my three prompts:

1. Make a shaker pocket
2. Create a mixed alpha title
3. Create movement with your embellishments

When  I saw the new True Life Version 2 stamp set I knew I wanted to create a title with it. I thought it would be fun to create a title by mixing different stamp sets and alphas. I chose the title, "Just Enough Time to Breathe" for this page about me taking a breather in the garden outside away from the noises going on inside the house. I paired the larger script word "just" with the more delicate and small word phrases from the set. To bring the phrase altogether I stamped out the word "breathe" with the Chloe Regular Alpha Stamp. I just love the pairing of these two fonts— script and typewriter.

Next, I took a look at all my page protector options and decided to try something that I don't often do— make a shaker pocket. To do this I used the Citrus Twist Kits Life Crafted #3 Page Protector (4x6 pocket + Journal Spot. I reserved the top pocket for my photo and the bottom journaling spot for my shaker. I actually filled it with sequins I had collected from previous Citrus Twist Kit orders! I think the lovely peachy orange and yellow tones really pair well with this layout.

I stapled together some rather fitting phrases from the CTK exclusive Endless Sunshine Die-Cut and Ephemera Pack and slipped them into the pocket alongside my sequins before stitching the pocket closed with my sewing machine. I layered a beautiful sun-burst patterned paper from the 6x8 Jen Hadfield Reaching Out Paper Pad behind my photo to mimic the sequins in my pocket below. Have I mentioned I absolutely love this shade of yellow?

Next, to add some movement and interest to the page I pulled out the cutest little cardstock bumble bees that came in the Endless Sunshine Die-Cut pack and arranged them around my photo as if they were in flight. I even added a little bumble bee flight trail by making dashes with my black journaling pen. I find that this really helps to draw the eye around the page.

That's it for this weeks 3-to-inspire and I hope you follow along finding fun and creative ways to use these prompts on your next project!

Affectionately,

SUNDAY SKETCH with Nathalie

Hello everyone!

Nathalie with you today to bring you this week's sketch.   We all love sketches, it is one of the best tools when you need inspiration to build your page.   This week's sketch is so versatile, fun, and layered... let me show you

Well, did I mentioned that sketches are the inspiration for a page, well here is my page inspired by the sketch and featuring July's Add-on kit.

It looks just like the sketch with a few small (or not) changes.   Starting with the orientation.  I chose to flip my sketch 90 degrees counterclockwise, this set my title at the top left corner of the page.

I love all the layers, but chose to replace the largest paper layer with a hand stitched background.   For this,  first,  I masked the area outside of the paper layer.   Next, I used a pencil to draw diagonal lines, and proceeded to use the Spencer Outline Stamp set to stamp the word, "EVERYDAY" repeatedly.   I used a paper piercing tool to create the stitching guide following the letter outlines, then spent a few hours hand stitching them with white thread.

I did not want to cover the entire stitched layer, so instead, I decided to follow the paper layers ( all the papers and embellishments come from the Add-on kit) in the sketch,  but place them in the bottom right quarter of the page.

My choice was to replace the small tickets, flags and banners from the sketch with  floral pieces from the add on kit ( and fussy cut from the papers).   These help to create a visual triangle on the page, and a great placement for the title.

I used ephemera and Happy Blooms puffy stickers to create the title.  Then just like in the sketch, added a few stamped sentiments from the True Life v2 stamp set, followed by my journal lines.

I love how the page turned out with the sketch as inspiration.   Remember you can find all the materials used in the CTK shop.

3-to-Inspire with Ingunn

Happy Saturday, happy summer, and happy hiking season! I audibly squealed when I opened my box of July products and saw all the outdoorsy stuff. Right then and there, I decided to start a brand new Life Crafted Album in Sea Glass where I could gather all my favorite mountain memories in one place.

When I saw the piece of Endless Sunshine die cut ephemera with ‘wildflower’ on it, it immediately made me think of how my daughters look to me when we’re out hiking: frolicking around in green meadows like happy, colorful wildflowers. So I picked a photo from one of my favorite trips with them, then decided to build the page around products that matched that die cut. I raised the die cut with a foam sticker, then added two matching florals from the Lazy Days puffy stickers tucked underneath it.

I love using huge photos when I scrapbook hikes, so I printed the photo of my husband and our oldest daughter at 9.5x8.25 inches, cut it in half, and punched holes in each side so I could place them directly into the album.

In order to add journaling and some extra photos, I took one of the double 3x4 page protectors, adhered the part with the holes to the back edge of the right-hand photo using red line tape, and then folded it over the front of the photo to create a foldout.

Inside the foldout pockets, I added a pattern and title from the digital Summer Fun patterns and journaling cards (which matched the flowers in the products I wanted to use, woohoo!), and journaled a quick little tidbit of how proud I was of Nora on this climb. I added another die cut to the patterned paper, and sprinkled some enamel dots around it & the wildflower cluster to make them look like they fit together.

On the back, I added some extra photos from the trip.

My challenge to you this week is to use:

(1) one main inspiration piece that prompts a page idea

(2) products that coordinate with that first piece

(3) a combination of big and small photos

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to spend some of it outdoors - I'll be hitting the trails, hoping to run into a bear so I'll have a legit excuse to use the adorable bear die cut that's included in the ephemera pack!

MEET OUR JULY 2021 GUEST DESIGNER: MELISSA MORRELLI

Hello there!

Today, we are super excited to welcome a good friend of Citrus Twist Kits, and she happens to be an amazing designer, too... Melissa Morrelli.    She  is a small format documenter with a love for the outdoors.

Hi my name is Melissa Morrelli. I am so excited to be a guest designer for CTK this month.  I live in California with my family. We love being outdoors whenever possible enjoying nature's beauty. I also enjoy watching true crime T.V., The Office and being at Disneyland. My favorite way to document our stories is in a traveler's notebook, but I do love myself a good album project usually for vacation and holiday stories.

Q&A with Melissa

  • WHEN DID YOU START MEMORY KEEPING
I started memory keeping off and on when I was 16 years old. I became more consistent in 2013 and haven't really stopped since.

  •  WHAT IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I'm an introvert and I have anxiety. I was terrified to share my crafty projects on social media because I was afraid they weren't "good enough". Then one day I decided to post my projects on Instagram and have been okay posting more frequently ever since.

  •  WHAT ARE 3 SCRAPBOOKING PRODUCTS YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT?

Stamps, ephemera, and neutral washi tape.

  •  WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT OUR JULY 2021 RELEASE?

The July CTK is perfectly filled with everything adventure! I love all the bits in the ephemera pack from cute pennants, outdoor tags, to the fun summer icons.

  •  FINISH THIS SENTENCE, “If you could see my crafting space now...”
send help!  At the moment, my craft space is a bit disorganized. My desk space is covered with so many pretty things though.

Here is what Melissa has created for her first project.  All the July Ephemera, our Digital Files, and the simple stamping all in one page!

Stop by Melissa's Instagram account to see more of her amazing work. You will  love it!
